I just purchased a (by my standards) seriously charged PC, which of course came loaded with Vista.

Does anyone have any experience/advice re: Vista? (BTW, I would consider reformatting the machine with XP - I don't run any Vista-dependent apps & such is my devotion to Civ! :crazyeye: )

Thank You,

Oz

I'd upgrade to XP just because it's Vista...

Haven't had any experience myself, just make sure if you're going to run it you have the appropriate rights on the directories used for the game. I seem to remember it also changes the save dir (Vista, not Civ) if you don't have the rights... but I'm foggy on that.

  - Microsoft-induced schizophrenia ...

Yeah, there's something called "User Access Control" ("UAC") which mysteries I've yet to delve. It's also possible to partition the disk so one can boot either Vista or XP, but I'm not sure I see any upside to this.

Thanks,

hello from the other OZ..

My Dell just died and my new laptop will have XP professional. (downgraded from VISTA).

Are there any issues that will arise when I reload my Civ 3 Complete?

We should form a secret society and wear fez hats (with tassles of course) :)

I don't have Complete (C3C, no issues yet), so I guess I'm just posting for ...

... Wait a minute - potentially helpful info. In a worse case, Vista allows you to partition your disk so you can boot either Vista or XP.
