Looks like they successfully planted a spy and are trying propaganda now... but nothing can keep us from making the Vice City culture flip!

Vice city and it's populace lack culture so should be easy to flip. All those crazed anarchists will fall to our mighty civilization and then we will get out the whip and poprush a library. :p :D

So far so good.... Civ3 has been leading GTA by 200 votes all day. Let's hope this is still true by noon PST tomorrow... :)

Go Civ!!!! :egypt:

Why would you need additional computers? I can apparently vote as often as I like, nothing prevents it and it seems to register all my votes, all from the same PC...

Is this true??? Does anybody know??? ANYBODY??????

EDIT: oh yeah, and the lead is down to 180.

Folks, the vote ends TOMORROW at noon.
Attempts to expose enemy spy have failed so perhaps mouselmm was just confused.

From the TitleMatch FAQ:
Q. When will the polls run?
Head-to-head polls will run Monday through Friday, starting and ending each day at noon PST.

You cannot vote multiple times from a machine. Doubt its cookies, this is GameSpy we're talking about. If anyone knows about multiplayer / internet exploits its them. Most likely IP. I tried removing the '?vote=1' arg from my http line and vote more than once and it didn't register. I suspect if people are 'seeing their votes register' multiple times, that it is not in fact their vote but someone else voting. In my tests I tried to vote several times and the vote count did not change.

Oh well! *keeps on "voting" anyway*

Hmm, I visit the site every few hours and vote about twenty times in a row each time and always see the number change, so either I do get around them (using Opera, maybe that's it?), or I just have a knack for voting when a lot of other people vote too.

Well, even if they do it by IP, use a program like Stealther and you get a new IP every time you hit the site...

Where does it say you're not allowed to vote more than once anyway?

You can keep voting, but it doesn't seem to register.

At first I thought it did though. I voted, saw the total go up by 2 (obviously someone else voted at the same time). Then I voted again and saw it go up by one, then again, and it went up by 2.

Then I thought to myself, "No way is this poll so weak as to not log IPs."

So then I started spamming votes like mad only to see it go up by 1 in maybe 15 or so of my votes.

Conclusion: You can only vote once, the website logs IPs. Any discrepancy is coincidental and you are not seeing your own vote, you're seeing someone else's.

As far as the whole thing goes. I will vote for Civ without even thinking about any other game, no matter how good it is.

The exception to this is Diablo or Halflife. If Civ ends up against those, I just don't know what I'll vote for. But I'll admit, I will err on the side of good! I will vote Civ if I get too torn. =)

On a side note: Halo beating Goldeneye is a crime. In fact, Halo beating ANYTHING is a crime. Halo is the most overrated game in the history of games. The FBI should get a court order for GameSpy to release the IPs of all people who voted for Halo, go to their houses, arrest them SWAT style, and take them the the Halo concentration camp where they will be summarily executed with an alien needle bullet to the head. This will ensure that the Halo fans that pollute humanity cannot breed. The world will be a better place.

If you disagree with me, you are wrong.

I'm betting that Gamespy checks votes by IP similar to the way GameFAQs does it. Cheaters who use IP scramblers or something similar have been caught before in the past contests, caused a giant controversy because it changed the outcome of a match.

GameFAQs is so much better than Gamespy anyway. That "Extra life" thing was okay until they made the three-way matches, which just ruined everything. Way too PC-heavy as well. PC games suck for everything but online (which I don't use anyway), RTS, and Civ (even though I don't play it anymore). Whatever, I've begun ranting again, just shrug me off as a console fanboy minority in this PC-heavy site.

On a side note: Halo beating Goldeneye is a crime.

Goldeneye was and is the only FPS I have ever really enjoyed. I'm not the FPS kind of person. This just adds to the reasons why I don't care about Gamespy's contest.

You know, I love GTA for all the reasons that the Pro-GTA guy said. I like letting loose. I find GTA very re-playable, and am on my second game.

But I've been playing Civ since it came out, and no game I've ever played keeps me coming back like Civ. Even when I get bored with it, as I have all games, I keep coming back to this one.

BTW: 3158 to 2990.

Yeah!! Done my part in voting for civ, should not be a problem winning this matchup....since simcity is more formidable opponent than GTA and civ have beaten them...

Too bad there isnt a civ3 vs RiseOfNations. That will be bigger, more exciting duel dont u think so...

ps: this is my first post.... hope i done no wrong....

VOTE PEOPLE VOTE!!! We have a NARROW lead over GTA

GTA:VC - 3140 votes
Civ3 - 3336 votes

If we can hold onto this lead, this will be a major upset for the competition!

DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!

I voted from one computer here at school, and when my friend saw me he asked what I was doing, I told him, and then he threatened to vote for GTAVC from one of the other comps here... So I bribed him. ^^
Cost me the approximate equivilant of $0.25... It's worth it... I just hope he doesn't vote at home for GTAVC... And that his vote here registered... ><

We have around 100 computers at the classrooms available at the school, so I thought maybe I ... :D

I could vote from both my Notebook and my Desktop... so 2 votes for Civ3. :)

But I think we need no stinking exploits to beat a kid's gangsta game. ;)
