Vpr4-The Golden Horde

we can let them build the statue. if we deny them ivory afterward, it doesn't give them any AC, but gives us the opportunity to conquer SoZ. the only problem are likely demands for ivory.

Ok, now I see the problem:
As I read the ruling about Barbaric, and the original discussion in viper's thread, I thought we are not allowed to own Great Wonders.
Of course, we can as well agree on not building GWs, but being allowed to keep them - if we somehow manage to get them without violating this part of "Defiant": No capturing foreign cities or demanding them in diplomacy.
Culture flips? :rotfl:

No, seriously, we do not want anyone to build any wonder; I agree, it is possible to figure out a scenario where it is worth it to give e.g. Germany Ivory, so they start/ complete the SoZ, wasting 160sp for a useless wonder. However, that still will give them even more culture...

i forgot how hard the defiant rule is...

ok, we can't get it. i just hate if our 5thish city can't get max use of it's tiles. without culture expansion half of the land tiles got ivory, i'd like to improve them. but i guess we can afford the wasted commerce due to lack of roads. it will take a while until the ivory can be sold for a reasable price to some civs. we may need the gold/tech we can get for it. until then, not connecting it is fine with me. if our warring goes well, maybe we'll never need it.

imo, the additonal culture doesn't hurt us much, we will be pathetic against everybody anyway.

another (distant) point:
we shouldn't build any small wonders in our capitol, we need the cultere in our other cities.

Are you saying if someone has SoZ but no more ivory, then he doesnt get AC?
Are you sure?

Wow thats pretty cool to know!
It doesnt actually make sense though, which is why I never thought of it I guess.

IBT- Cleo shows up and demands Philosophy. She backs down! Celts and Vikings begin ToA.

Thats all, I think.

Mongols, 1000BC
I think we have enough Archers for now…start some Horsemen, and Vet Warriors for upgrades.
Germany is pathetic, and the others are pretty balanced; I’d like to go to war soon, but we’re locked in gpt deals with almost anyone atm.
We are strong compared to Germany, Hittites, and Egypt.

Enter.
IBT:
Monty demands 22gp. Well, we are at war now

Turn 1: 975BC
Move some Archers towards our Horse town.
IBT:
Aztecs sign in Egypt against us.

Turn 2: 950BC
IBT:
Now that gets ridiculous – Aztecs sign in Vikings, and we have a Scout in their territory .
Hittites demand 23gp – refuse, another war. And another Scout in their lands…

Turn 3: 925BC
IBT:
Great, Egypt Warrior kills Archer.

Turn 4: 900BC
No action

Turn 5: 875BC
Zzzz..

Turn 6: 850BC
Found a city with overlap next to the Cow; not good, but Ulaanbataar isn’t placed optimal, and I cannot move the Settler further away atm. Our first Horse kills the Egyptian Warrior.

Turn 7: 825BC
Manouvering
IBT:
Yea, fine; Celts join the party.

Turn 8: 800BC
…and the pRNG as well. Loose a Vet Horse attacking an Aztec Warrior.

Turn 9: 775BC
No action. Found Balkh.
IBT:
Forbidden Palace message.
German Archer approaches Iron Port.

Turn 10: 750BC
Kill Celtic Archer. Kill Spear at Augustadurum, loose Horse to Spear there.

Ugly. Not that we made any crucial mistakes so far, but this is essentially AW no – we are not at war with the 2 weakest Civs…

NOTES:
*Please time the Settler in Khanbalik with growth. Should go to the dot; we will need to form a Gems colony, but this saves us from roading the mountain.
*Careful. This is a really tough situation; if we can raze Augu, we may be able to get peace with the Celts sooner. If there is one Civ I do not want to fight, than the Celts.
*The Spear in the S is on the way to IP.
*Since we have all our gpt back, we could now research full speed on Monarchy, getting it in 19; but I’d guess we could use the money to get a tech discount – if we survive the next turns. :(

The end may be near...
