VQ-09 Alg Ore's Exploit

Fair enough abt farming ... but lumbermill is ofcourse necessary at this point. If youy look at my first picture closely, two out of the 3 forests you marked with "chain farm" signs are currently being worked on. While waiting for another 100 turns or so for the Internet to be built, of-course a lumbermill will helps. Imensely.

Sorry about the delay. Had to get the patch done right. Still have one glitch where our crop production history is zero on the graph pre-path. AH well on with the game.

Radio completes on my first turn and I instruct our scientists to stop dreaming of computers and instead research the technology of Steel. 6 years later they come back and show their progress. I ask them to begin researching the science of throwing rocks even further via Artillery. They happily comply and will be done in 2 more turns. I skipped computers for now to get the military tech to pump up our power graph. Ramses is getting smacked down hard and we're still below Mansa on the graph.

Ramses did come asking for help in the war and I declined. Right away after that Alex asked us to join in on the dogpile and I complied. We're getting great multual struggle bonuses with about half the powers.

I did drop trading with Ghandi for a few short turns at Louis' request, but reinstated those asap since the Indian happy resources help us with the problem of Emancipation anger.

William Shakespear (GA) was born in our capital. He offered to give us many beakers towards MultiMedia, but I asked him to go to sleep instead.

With Steel coming in AND other nations knowing this tech, I quickly had our capital switch from Broadway to the Eiffel Tower. Partially for the gold pop if it happens, but because free broadcast towers are always nice. Rock & Roll is also being worked, just in case we get lucky.

I've got a few token forces outside Ramses' two cities on our land mass and have a frigate bombarding the northern city. A caravel is escorting our workboat. Eventually we'll want to remove those cities, ideally before one of them gets the Capital bonus for defense. This is more to keep other nations from landing and capturing the cities giving us "border problems".

Computers, Rocketry, Satellites, and FiberOptics are all that's left.

One thing to think about where would IronWorks go best for our nation?

This means we are patched right??

Who ordered 1 helping of a GA? :wallbash:

All this money, and soon we will have nothing to research :D

makes me up, but I will hold off untill I am sure we are patched or not...

We are patched ... but I think it doesn't matter -- as in both version can open each other's save.

Mistake to think that we have nothing to research on. We are on a space race route, right? We have tons of things to research.

I think delaying computers is good call, although we need to prioritize computers among others ... because of labs. Yes, research may not be critically needed, but it sped up space parts. And once we have all those backward techs, we will have tons of things to build (eg courthouses, factories, plants) so better to build labs sooner rather than later.

Agree on the lab requirement, but if there's not a city to build one in... ;)

Played it patched.

Just was wondering will the VQ team get together again for the SGOTM03 that starts Dec.1. Posted to the VQ discussion thread but not yet put my name up in sign up as I just wondered how many of VQ were going to play again. Not likely we have two teams again but have some time to see.

BTW enjoying this game and have been lurking........

Exactly. AFAIK, you can't build in a city that an opposing AI has captured... Unless there's some new "french" mod out there. ;)

*long time quiet*

Spoiler keeping the quiet :

I didnt get to play today, sorry for keeping this (again).

I will get to it tomorrow (I hope!)

5 techs to go. Artillery, Rocketry, Computers, Satellites, Fiber Optics. That's also the order I want to research them in (queue cries from GreyFox about Computers first :crazyeye:). Why?

We really only have one decent production centre, Ulundi. So it needs (probably) to build Apollo and Internet. Researching Rocketry first allows for more time to build Apollo.

Looking at Ramses' two cities in our backyard, we need a few more troops to take. Hmmm, where are all our catapults abd trebuchets ?

Press enter.

Artillery comes in and Rocketry selected. Gandhi already has it.

I switch our second biggest hammer producer, kwaDukuza, from Rock'n'Roll (we don't need happies) to Ironworks.

Bye bye Ramses.

We now own all of Australia.

The Koreans are annoyed so this seems a good idea. He is so far ahead of everyone else in power, we're safe!

Look who's so clever?

The "?" is because no-one is at war, there can't be any barbarians around, so how did Alex get a GG?

Last turn Rocketry comes in and we pick Computers. 3 techs to go.

Another GP in Nobamba in about 5 turns, probably a GS.

Eifel Tower in 2 in Ulundi, then Apollo (which will take 45 turns). Ironworks in kwaDukuza in 18, Internet here instead? Our research will take 34 turns at current rate. I think this is better than delaying Apollo to wait to see if we have Aluminium!

A save.

Fair enough on going for Rocketry first. But by building Ironworks in 2nd best city, as it turns out, it is better to delay Rocketry, since there will be 2 prod cities, it doesn't really matter. Lab will increase our research as well (faster to get to FO).

But it is a good call ... it is always good to have Apollo done as early as possible (since once Internet is built, we "should" have tons of parts ready to be started).

Question on variant: What do we do once we get FO? Are we required by variant to stop researching? Or are we then free to research whatever we like? Also note that AFAIK, there is no way to really stop researching. We must choose something to research. What we can do is to forcibly turn research to 0%.

I will be starting a long flight back home, so if the next player is around and available, we can always swap turns. Else, I could probably play and report in 48hrs time.

Hmm.... I'd say that once FO is researched but the internet is not yet built... hmmm. Dunno. I'm partially in favor of turning research to 0 and partially in favor of only researching something that no one else knows. Thoughts or opinions from others?
