VQ02 - Predetermined City Placement

"I don't care, that's Lord Eektor's problem, not Mine!"

This is my got it and since its too late to start I'll be playing tomorrow.

Well I'll concentrate on spreading religion especially Buddhism because that's our state religion.

Oh wow that barbarian city is in the perfect spot for our city. Too bad we haven't finished the tier to be able to keep that city.

I think I need advice on what to do, since GreyFox killed all my advisors again. Guess I better start the interviews.

Ok, in the interest of... um... player relations... I will allow this. The barb city is in the perfect spot to keep. We can settle the two spots remaining in the west.

(I just can't pass up the possibility of taking that barb city in the perfect spot...)

Its never too ol;d to go back to school ....

back on track ... Oh, great, the rules are relaxed ... tier 3 is 3 cities N, S, E, W each ... right? :) Too bad Gandhi has already taken the SW site ... :P

But got to wait till the barb city grows to 2 before taking it ... um ... on second thought, don't need to ... we have two settlers siting there idling ... Would that be allowed by the modified variant? :crazyeye:

I'm confused...

That map seems to imply that we do control the barb city.... wassup wit dat?

and my interp on the variant is that if a city fits into our "grid" then we should be ok with keeping it even if it doesn't fit the current level... So if a barb (or other civ) is enlightened enough to place a city where we would put it... then we can keep it.

Umm based on the last map I've seen, I don't see any open spots for new cities, unless we are thinking of settling up north. Where am I supposed to send the settlers out to?

@bobrath - I really like your interpretation of the rules. :D

@oldbustedjorn - you're not too old to go to school. I'm studying in college and I'm 25.

Sorry this is late.

Preturn: 1500 AD

I will not take the barbarian city until it is at population 2. I feel its against the rules for our variant to have that city autorazed and then put a settler there. So my military units will be stationed there til it grows one more point.

Turn 2: 1510 AD

Nationalism discovered. I decided to head to Liberalism and started researching Paper.

Turn 3: 1515 AD

I made peace with the Americans. I got 20 gold from the deal.
Rome starts building the Taj Mahal. I thought it was important to build this wonder for the GA and the +10 culture it gives.

Turn 5: 1525 AD

English declared war. Uhoh. This could be trouble.
Paper discovered. I started researching Education. Universities would be great for our science and culture.

Turn 6-10: 1530 – 1550 AD

Heavy fighting breaks out against the English. Unfortunately the war was unexpected and their knight units have done some pillaging in our areas. I have tried to keep losses at a minimum while trying to stop them from pillaging too much of our area. The border towns are all producing pikemen to kill the knights. I saw one gunpowder unit so watch out they might start sending more musketmen.

After turn comments:

The war was unexpected and I think I did a poor job trying to repel the invasion. I’m sorry about that. Vicky refuses to talk and our two allies Gandhi and Cyrus doesn’t want to get involved.

I tried to concentrate on spreading religion and building cultural buildings. Confucianism and Hinduism is in 9 cities, so we are set to build the 50% culture building (I forgot the name of it) in our 3 cultural cities once we have the 9 temples up. I got Buddhism in 4 cities. Unfortunately when I sent a missionary to Rome it didn’t spread. Try to spread it to Rome quickly so the 25% bonus will apply to the Taj Mahal.

The barbarian city has yet to grow and right now Gandhi has some troops next to ours. I think that barb city is going to be razed soon and we won’t be able to keep it for our empire.

Wow - didn't see that one coming. I can't imagine why vicky doesn't like us (we only razed ONE of her cities - relax!)...

It seemed you did fine. I'm in a private prince game and I had Roosevelt to pleased, with not ONE negative point. I wasn't that far ahead, there were no def packs, and we didn't even border him - and he STILL attacked me. Monty, Toku, and Nappy in that situation wouldn't even get a sigh out of me - but roosevelt?

You didn't lose any cities so I would worry too much. We just need to keep our border cities well defended with a variety of units.

What about switching to free religion when we can? We'll have all our cities converted by then and I think we get more culture by going free - is that correct?

Geez .... Vicky has chosen unwisely ...

On hindsight, Washy did a good thing declaring on us with his phony war ...because that get's us cranking our pikemans ... else it could be a lot worse when Vicky declared ...

Good call on the Taj Mahal ... its quite an important wonder. But we may have competition, as AI usually targets this wonder as well.
