VQ02 - Predetermined City Placement

Pre-flight check

Everything seems to be in order, except, well, for the part that our couthern cities are almost baren ... and two other things:

vq02-city-adj.jpg

I changed the pointed pop to the red circle tile.

The other thing is why is Pisae building a bank? If it is going to be our replacement cultural city, let's get the religious buildings up. However, since there is only 3 turns left, I let it remain. It will, afterall, help our economy before the cultural slider flip.

Oh, one more thing:

vq02-adv-list.jpg

Yeah right. I am just grateful we are not the last ....

On the Religious Front-End

While I was spreading religion around, noticed this:

vq02-jewish.jpg

Hmmm ... does that means we are going to have our forth religion ... ?

Turn 252 (1710 AD)
Judaism has spread: Setia

YES!

Buddhism is the hard one to spread, failed twice. :aargh:

Thus, at the end, here is our religious situation:

vq02-religions-scr.jpg

Bud: We have 8, still need one more city.
Hin: We have 9. Sufficient.
Con: We have 9. Also sufficient.
Jew: Only 2, get it spread like mad. But target the cultural cities first.

After-Turn Notes

- Our grid ...
vq02-world-view.jpg

- Oh, one :smoke: for me ... I delayed building the Hermitage and other cultural National Wonders, but on hindsight, should get them built first. So, next player have to figure out which city should get these national wonder. Generally we ant the cultural cities to reach Legendary status at the same time, so put these wonders at the cultural city with the slowest cultural growth.

- Gandhi asked us to help in his war, but I declined. However, if next player feels the urge for some action, I think Saladin is weak enough for our quite massive (albeit a bit outdated troops) to get earn some experience. SO, up to next player's call.

- We are also at OR with no state religion :crazyeye: ... but I don't consider it a :smoke:, since it helps us in the building of missionaries. However, once spreading s done, let's change it to something else as soon as possible. Its a waste of money.

- Remember, build the temples as soon as possible to get those Synagoue buildings up in our cultural city ... We are already running a bit late with only 200+ turns left.

Got it. I will try to play tonight after my other sg turnset is done.

Quick question - How do you put the user comments in the turn log? Is it by typing in the chat log?

Edit: Wow you guys are really quick! I played on Saturday and I'm up already!

I think as soon as possible .. In the other SG, we did that after getting Assem Line ... but we are trailing in tech here ... I say we get to a tech which give us a reasonable unit for good defense and make the flip ...I think getting Rifling is good enough ... if tech trading allows it, then can try to push for Assem Line .... I think mass media is too fa away, we have to make do without the broadcast towers. We need to get to free religion, and free market if possible to boost commerce.

btw... a switch to Judasim as our state religion might help with Vicky and Fredrick, dunno how Gahndi will like it tho.

I took us to OR from Theocracy just in case we could manage to luck into Judaism. SOOOOO glad that worked out.

I probably would have jumped on Saladin right away. It earns us "common military struggle" relationship points and Saladin is getting beat on by a large number of civs, I'd be suprised if we ever saw one of his units. We just have to keep an eye on Gahndi taking peace and take it with Sala asap at that point. I've seen too many phony wars turn real cause I thought it would be ok to leave it be for a bit.

Yes, I think you are right, should have declared on Saladin ... eektor can still do that ...

Liberalism will be in in 4 turns, remember to switch to free speech (+100% culture). If by then judaism is sufficiently spread, may switch to free religion. What bob says about changing to Judaism is also workable ... we have to avoid another war with the english at all cost.

Once post-war rebuilding is done, may want to switch from serfdom to Slavery (for whipping of temples) or Caste System (start outting artists specialists in slower cities)

I think Assem Line might be doable ... we just need corporation, Replaceable parts, Steam Power.

I'm wondering how much culture we need in each of our 3 cities (I can't look at the save right now)

We still need 40,000 in each city (I doubt any of them have 10k yet)
That's an AVERAGE of 200 cpt for the remaining 200 turns.

We would have a base of 50 cpt in the city, plus 4 cathedrals (50% each) and free speech (100%) to get 200.

Is it doable? Last I saw (in my turnset) Neopolis was the only one close, at 40 cpt (which was all "base" culture). Looks like each seperate religion adds 1 :culture:, plus the religious buildings.

Looking at the screenshot of Cumae: Why does the Confusian Temple adds 2 :culture: instead of 1? Is it because the monistary is also there?

Too bad we couldn't get a 5th religion... and a 6th... ok all 7... :)

I did not take that into account... I am not sure how much that adds when you have culture cranked up to 100%. I assume this is added to the base culture, (and gets 200-300% added)? I'd like someone to chime in if they know these numbers.

My main point is, we're going to have to get 250-300 cpt in those cities for the last 100+ turns in order to have a chance...

Don't forget about the great artists. We have 1 right? I know one was used earlier. We will need a few more great artists to make it.

Well, I don't see the possibility of any other type of victory, so lets shoot for it and if we come up short - well at least we tried!

I'm still in agreement, this is our only way to win at this point (I doubt we could even do a timed victory)

And yes, we should try to do everything possible to get more Great Artisits. Are any of our cities able to hire more artists? If we could get a couple cities going that would give us 100% chance at Artists would be perfect! Also, can we go to Paficism yet, for the 100% GPP? (It does seem really silly to be in OR w/ no state religion)

The commerce turned culture points will be multiplied by the multipliers. So, Assuming we do not get the 5th religion, we will be getting a modifier of 300%. So suppose we have 3 towns in each of the 3 cities, that is 7*3+300% = 84cpt from towns alone. Don't forget we have yet to rebuild the National Epic (+4cpt), the Heroic Epic (+4cpt) and the Hermitage (+4cpt).

It is definitely doable, as long as no one declared war on us (what are the chances of that? :crazyeye:).

-

Yeah I can see its definitely doable. Ok so not much happened in my turnset. That's good, right? ;) I basically was building culture buildings, spreading religion, and building military units in non culture city.

Turn 4: 1770 AD

Founded Liberalism.

View attachment 118767

Began revolution to change civics to Free Speech, Free Religion, and Caste System. Free Speech because of the 100% culture modification. Free Religion for the +1 culture and happy face per religion. Caste system for unlimited artists, although thinking back I think maybe Slavery would be better option.

Turn 5: 1775 AD

After anarchy switched to 80% culture and 20% gold.

Turn 10: 1800 AD

Traded chemistry and 10 gold to Saladin for Replaceable Parts

Traded chemistry to Frederick for Economics. (If we would want to change to Slavery, I suggest we change to Free Market too.)

After turn comments:

I thought in order to win is a long shot, but looking at how much culture we are generating and we haven't built the 50% culture buildings for some religions yet, we have a good shot of winning I think. Just hope we don't get into anymore wars.

Neapolis and Rome are building Grocers. Once they are done I suggest using the extra food that was eaten by unhappiness to support some artists.

I'm researching constitution, well not really since we are getting 1 beaker right now. Feel free to change it if you want.

View attachment 118768

Buddhism, confucianism, and hinduism have the 9 cities. We need to spread judaism to more cities. First we should spread it to Neapolis, then the other cities.

Culture per turn is looking good.
