Want an easy way to play Civ V online? Say hello to Giant Multiplayer Robot! (GMR)

Is there a way to make it so the GMR app does not try to open Civ when I download a new save game file?

Now that Civ lets you back out of hotseat without closing I have been using Ctrl+Esc to play all my turns without reloading Civ but every time I download a new save game file from GMR the app tries to reopen Civ even though it is already open.

I thought so, maybe ticking that box in the GMR app setting to not close CiV when save is detected also has the effect of not starting CiV when click 'play this one!'

But again, you have to manually start CiV for the first turn you are about to take.

EEE's right, if you click on your Steam avatar in the GMR desktop app and go to "Settings..." there is an option for auto-closing CiV that you can disable :)

I got that but I am trying to get it not to auto open Civ when I download a new save. Since I already have the game open. I will try to put in a screen shot in a bit to show you what I mean.

Hey, I had an error submitting my save. It said "There was an error submitting this save" or something generic like that. It didn't proceed to the next turn on the GMR app.

I "save" it on top of the GMR play this one! save. When I tried downloading the turn with the app again (I don't know if it actually downloaded, I assume not), it was the next person's turn. I think all I did was load up the game I saved to my own computer.

The game is "DLC", this is the link: http://multiplayerrobot.com/Game/Details/454

Thanks!

Got the same problem on all my games, tried to do it manually trough the website, it tell me:

*There is not enough memory on the disk*

I am having the same error with a game. Large Islands G&K.

Did you guys update your GMR application? I remember update once this morning and all my games are fine.

First off, GMR is one of the most awesome gaming applications I've come across.

Secondly I've just hosted my first (private) game and kept getting a message:

Server Error in '/' Application.
The view 'StartGame' or its master was not found or no view engine supports the searched locations. The following locations were searched:
~/Views/Game/StartGame.aspx
etc...

However despite the error it appears the game has been created anyway.

Thirdly I'm confused where I get to choose the settings of the game - speed, starting age, map style etc. All I can see is the start game option.

'Starting this game will finalize all settings, including players.'

I assume I'll be able to choose the game settings after I click on start game?

When you click start game on the GMR site it shows as your turn on the GMR app. You start the game through it and start a hotseat game. Here you can put up all your settings and civs. Make sure you put specific civs for who chose it in the right order, so if you are player one, player 2 took random and player 3 wants india you have to set up india for player 3. GMR will change the names from "player 3" to "nick once you've uploaded the file the first time.

I think the YouTube video on the GMR website can answer most of your questions, try spend 10 mins on that video, much clearer than reading words. And welcome!:)

Hey guys, the issue we experienced this morning with submitting turns was due to the hard drive on our server filling up with log files, which we have processed and cleaned. So that shouldn't be an issue going forward! :)

I just published an update for the GMR client that includes a new setting called "Launch Civ V after downloading save". If you un-check this the GMR app won't attempt to launch CiV after you click "Play Turn". I believe this is what you were looking for :)

Yep, the YouTube video (while a bit dated) is still the best way to learn how GMR works and how to go about setting up a new game.

Thank you:goodjob:

Ah well done, thx Mel & Brian for the new update! Now i spare a lot of time by doing several games after another without quitting Civ5. This is brilliant!

Next step would be to have a GMR feature within the Civ5 app? :D

Edit:
Have you cut out the option from GMR to visit my running game site?

Ok, thats great! But I'm not sure if it fixes the problem I was having, where I can't seem to be able to redownload the file. Perhaps I should just go to the website instead of using the app. I'll post again if I still need help, thanks!
