Little background. I was a fairly regular player of Civ I, II, III. Found IV about a year ago, moved to BtS about 6 weeks ago. I'm an Empire Builder. Scores and early victories aren't really that important to me. I enjoy the journey and the finished product. Not uncommon to win a space race or time. I will go to War when necessary, defend my friends, and even preempt a threat on my borders.

Now my primary question. I have seen a lot of talk on this board about Warmongering and it's benefits. Seen a few peace nicks that have converted. I've never considered myself a peace nick, but I'm not overly aggressive either. I understand the theory's behind an early rush and eliminating a rival, just don't see it in my style.
So what are the biggest reasons to become a warmonger?
Why make the switch?
Is there a middle ground?
Is it more difficulty level dependent? I just started playing Prince
Thoughts, Opinions, facts are all appreciated!

I am also of the builder tendency, and have switched over to looking for opportunities for an early war. I think of it as grabbing the other kid's bag of Legos to use to build my kingdom. After a successful early war you've got 2-3 extra city sites to build with, it's that simple.
