War Thread

Dear Loco,

We must say that we were a bit disappointed to see Joe's comments
revealing our involvement in warning you about the impending attack in
the UN – but it's not that big of a deal. Our relationship with
Innovia isn't exactly "buddy-buddy" anyway.

We will be happy to agree to guaranteed peace with you as you
suggested for the next 15 turns. Consider it done.

We'd also like to tell you that we have totally rebuffed Innovia's
offer of a Non-Aggression Pact that they have been pressuring us for.
(hence the recent strain in our relations) – we're hoping that, at the
least, our implicit threat of force will keep Innovia from sending all
their military down at you.

Finally, we'd like to suggest the idea of a resource trade again. The
extra happiness and/or Health may be a great asset to you in
withstanding Innovian pillaging campaigns.
We are even willing to go so far as to trade you our only source of
Ivory (in exchange for gold perhaps?) if you think it will help you
withstand Innovia's camel archers.
Let us know if you're interested.

Good luck! And kill a few Innovians for The Leader!

What should we do in reply?

I will say sorry for the comments i made but also say that by that time they would have guess it was epsilon as we had closed borders beforehand and they seem to know there was a third party involed

Also on the ground, I would attack the Camal rider with the nearby cat and then it's escourting longbow, that should win, then move the longbow to the west to the hill that the cat attacked from

A sad day for Loco. B&O, possibly our greatest city, was lost last turn. Looks like they just suicided most of their cats and then attacked. One cat withdrew, and they took the city with no units left to spare. It was so close. Just one more defender and reinforcements would have arrived, saving the city. As it is, we stand little chance to win this game now, but at least we don't seem to be in much more danger from Innovia. After we attacked and killed a catapult, all they have left is two cats, a half strength longbow, and two maces. That can't do much damage to us. However, we must still prepare for the possibility of another fleet.

What about the letter?

also a letter from aloha

To answer your question, our position on an Epsilon is that we would be furious that they would take advantage of you in this way with no prior warnings. It is interesting to note that both Epsilon and Piffle have been silent so far on the current events.

As for your trade offer i'm afraid that we are not in a position to give you gold for a whole tech at this time, however would your team be interested in trading banking for another tech. Would you be interested in Compass and Horseback Riding?

Again what do you want to do?

Latest war update

Here's the position. It looks like they are waiting for another shipment. If they are going to continue to attack by sea, we need to get a navy going. I'll start a galley next turn.

I think banking for compass would be good but if I remember correctly we would need some gold to make that fair.

Here is the war situation two turns later. We have built lots of catapults to attack their stack. However, I think we need to wait until they get out of the woods and we have a few more regular units (not cats) gathered.

We finished Gunpowder, and the Gunpowder + World Map-Nationalism trade should go through next turn. We have three options of what to do next. We could research Military Tradition (19 turns) for calvary, we could research engineering (9)-Chemistry(12) for grenadiers, or we could go towards riflemen with Printing Press(13)-Replaceable Parts (19)-Rifling(25).

We are done with building longbows now, we will start building muskets. I will also put one city on galley production and a low-production city on cat production.

Personally i think riflemen are better (however i normally play with the english so iam not sure how good the standard rifles are)

War Update: We have some cats and a few inferior troops ready. The picture is below. Do we think this is enough to attack and wipe out their stack (which is a mace, a longbow, and two cats)? If so do we want to, or wait for a larger stack to use our cats against? I vote we attack now and take back the position. Maybe if we do we can get a settler up there eventually to rebuild.

This is more long term, but I think that if we survive this war we need to expand like crazy and take as much space as we can. Maybe even get ready for another war with Innovia. The only way we can survive is to have a bigger civ.

Go attack, if it fails well we have at least weaken them!

All their units are destroyed, should we ask for peace?

On your earlier post, i agree the only way we can be consider a world power is through expanison, also we need to contiue increasing our miltary,

Hate to say but we will have to wait to see which way they go, try to keep equal numbers in the east and west and hope we get our troops over quickly enough wherever they land. (on the plus side we do now have muskets)

I'm going to be away this weekend (Friday until Monday), so we need someone else to play a turn or two. All you have to do is open the save, play the turn, and send an e-mail (with the save enclosed). This e-mail should be to team piffle, ginger ale, and regentman. It really doesn't take too much time at all. If anyone can do this, say so. If not, could someone please post tomorrow in the turn thread and say that there will be a dalay? Thanks in advance.

I will try to play it, but if i can't i will post in the turn tracker

Anything you want doing?

We're dead. Six camel archers appeared out of nowhere. The city is only defended by a musket, a longbow,a catapult and an axe. Our only hope is that we can retake the city if they don't raze it, but that is pretty unlikely.

We not dead yet, (in deep s***, yes but not dead)
Keep producing units, 50% cats 50% muskets, maybe turn down the science slider and upgrade some units and ask for help with techs from other civs.

Basically, make them pay for there victories with blood! lots of it!

Welcome back! hope your weekend was good!

Also i am going to ask for help from other teams, if thats ok,

I have seen the save, pictue below, i would suggest moving the longbow protecting the cats to go to the city, the cats to attack the camels and the musket man coming towards the city (not the one inside) to move one space closer to the city, just in case one really weak unit ends up capturing it, we can counter straight away!

Alas, I didn't see the previous post until I had already played. I moved all of our troops into the city to see what they would do. I figured we could use the cats next turn. If they split up their forces, we should bwe able to kill them by 1) use a weak unit to weaken the camel, 2) use a stronger unit to finish it off. There is also a screenshot here of troops that are on the way. I am tempted to switch research to engineering for pikes, do we think this is a good idea? Muskets just aren't good enough against camel archers.
