in one of my games of medival total war 2 i was venice and had already destroyed the byzantine empire and milan and then the pope dies im thinking: oh no big deal. then the holy roman empire is the new person with a pope. (i was rooting for france but whatever) then just 4 turns later the holy roman empire ATTACKS me. i get mad fight off his attack but when i get close to his city the pope immediatly says :dont attack or ull b excommunated. of course i dont want that so i just get to declare peace and rest for awhile. now after ive taken paris and dijon from the rebels sicily declares war on me. no threat idc but then after that the holy roman empire yet again attacks me. im starting to get angry now do the same thing as before. then after ive destroyed sicily holy roman empire does it again. at this point the pope is just too much of a wetblanket so i decide: SCREW IT! and start attacking the holy roman empire.
i get excommunated for defending myself as usual. by now sense im excommunated rebellions are going on in florence right next to the papal states. THE PAPAL STATES TAKES FLORENCE AND I GET MAD. i declare war and completely destroy the papal states (but the pope miraculously gets away) after that denmark declares war on me! then just another turn later its the same with hungary. my longtime ally! WTH so denmark doesent send anything but hungary immediatly takes a city. i counter attack taking 3 of his cities before france, another one of my allies, and england both declare war on me and they are currently in the middle of a war! so the next turn portugal declares war on me. no threat there though. so now even though im a christian nation im at war with almost every other catholic and orthodox faction! now my only friends are the turks, egyptians, spainiards, scottish, and the moors because during a crusade i declared war on the mongolians >.< so miraculously (or because its on easy) i manage to destroy the holy roman empire france boot england out of mainland while the scottish got him in the island. denmark finally attacks me and its just wow. i manage to barely hold that off while hungary takes an undefended city of mine (DOH!)
has this kind of thing happened to anybody else? o yea and after that holy roman pope died 2 more holy roman popes were elected in 2 turns (i wonder how that happened
