Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.1

Frostyboy and Stormrage, thank you for leading me towards a happier Civilization. Your knowledge is wonderful. I am honored to be welcomed.

My knowledge is wonderfull....:lol::lol::lol:
Jahola, go to page 18 and check out my first post :)
Also, you should really undo the change we told you to do, and do it the way mrtn suggested, cause that`s the way they are gonna fix it in the next patch, if you leave it like we told you to do, then you are going to get the same problem (when the patch comes out).

Why couldn`t you just say: "No, its hardcoded.", like you were supposed to? ;)
Btw, who is working on the next patch, you or Mr.Do?
Mr. Do has complained about lack of time, and aaglo has complained about lack of working computer, so I guess that dubious honour falls to me. ;)
aaglo started it and sent that to me, so I guess I should compile the other fixes and get it done...

Stop thinking about mrtn's ass :P

Yes, it's hard-coded to five sets. I wish it weren't, so the Orientals could have one, and the Slann, and so on and so forth, but it won't happen, unfortunately.

Hi!

I like to hear some opinions about the following:

I always play on tiny world sizes, and since the expansionistic civs do not even get scouts in WH it is a pretty much useless trait for me. Therefore I have removed the whole Expansionisc trait for all civs having it and replaced it with the trait I think lies closest to them. If I couldn't think about anything, religious is used. Here is my list (Bold means new trait):

Reikland: Scientific and Industrious
Kislev: Commercial and Agricultural
Araby: Commerical and Religious
Ungols: Commercial and Militaristic
Dolagans: Religious and Militaristic
Orcs: Religious and Militaristic (Gork and Mork)
Amazones: Religious and Militaristic

Ah...moderators...always complaining about something :D

And btw no one was thinking about his ass until he mentioned it! :)

Frosty, I can agree only for Araby, can`t comment on the others.

I don't know if it's been mentioned before, but I ran into an error with finding the wondersplash for the industrious era. I think the filename was someting like aaglo_industriousera.pcx. The game exited.

Well, yes it has been mentioned before a couple of times :)
A fix is on the way (forthcoming from mrtn).
Here's something you can try yourself:

@ Frostyboy:
I agree with you on the scout issue, but (and I might be totally wrong here) doesn't the expansionist trait also affect AI behavior? Or is that managable in the editor?

I'm not sure I agree with Reikland being Scientific and Industrious. They're no more scientific than they are religious (they're army list has both handgunners and fanatics). Really, I'd put'm as Scientific and Religious, since there seems no reason they should be Industrious (and, given the constant infighting of the nation, possibly good reason to think they would not be industrious)

I suppose commercial could work for Kislev, and possibly for Araby, though I think it really doensn't belong with the Ungols. If anything, I'd give the Ungols (if they're going to remain as Ungols) an agricultural trait in exchange for expansionist.

If they Dolgans are going to remain Dolgans, rather than Kurgan, I don't think they should have religious as a trait. The Dolgans seem to be about as detached from religion in the WH world as anyone - they aren't chaotic, nor are they Sigmarites, nor do they conform to the Old World gods that are commonly worshiped. And I've read nothing to suggest that in Dolgany, a land in the Border Princes where Dolgans took over, the Dolgans brought or enforced new religions. It's as if religion isn't even an issue for them. I'd give them agricultural as well, if anything. Though if the expansionist behavior effects AI as folketsfiende suggests, then I'd stick with the current attributes.

As for the Orcs, while they have religion they don't seem like a religious civ. None of their units evidence the religious fanaticism apparent in religious facitons like Chaos or the Empire. As such, I'd suggest giving them an industrial attribute to represent the greenskins' ability to churn out massive amounts of soldiers and settlements, rather than the religious attribute.

Thanks for the answers.

For several of the tribes, there are no good substitute for being expansionistic. Yes, it affects the friendliness of the AI, so on a huge map it is a very good trait even without scouts, but when playing on tiny maps like I do, it is an almost useless trait since you get perhaps 2 ruins before everything is taken.

For the Reik - they have been Industrious all the time, so I think perhaps that should stay unless there is a major opinion about changing it. I chose Scientific for the sake of variation, because I need cheap culture and when thinking of their inventions like the steam tank and so. But I wouldn't mind changing them to Rel Sci.

Regarding Dolgand and Ungols, it wouldn't fit too well being Agricultural when they live in nomadic ways... I chose commercial for the Ungols since the Mongols where a bit commercial after ravaging everything they found first.
The Dolgans are also not that attached to the soil???

I agree regarding the Orcs though, but I have chosen them to be religious for now since I need cheap culture - but yes I agree: Militaristc Industrious should suit them well :)

As long as u dont try to make a profit of it i think, stormy.;)

you cant even distribute it...this is covered in the book that came with Civ...

But there is no reason you cant do it for personal use...at least thats how I read the copyright laws in the book
