Warhammer Fantasy Mod 2.1

again I ignorantly ask, what difference is there between this (2.1) and the one I got working (2.0) Im almost through it twice now, and no probs...is there something Im just lucky enough to avoid?...(BTW I am d/ling 2.1 in case)

So far this has been an incredible mod...

Well, the differences are mentioned in the 2.11 readme-file (and also in the 1st post). There is:

- new civ: chaos dwarfs
- almost 100 new unit graphics (either completely new units or replacing old graphics).
- two new resources: ogres & beastmen
- skavens as barbarians
- new wonders
- plus numerous tweaks in gameplay

WOW, I've been waiting for this, will download as soon as I can!

I noticed a couple of things by looking at the civilopedia.txt file and the unit folders:
- treeman is stated to be able to plant forests, but the unit folder (nor the ini-file) does not include the plant-animation (it came as an update for the treeman).
- the orc rock lobba includes only the old attack and death animations (both were updated: new attack image-size is maximum 240x240 pixels, new death has the goblin flying with the rock ;) ). Propably they were left out intentionally.
- hobgoblin shaman doesn't have the updated "gore death" either ;) . Propably that was intentionally left out too.
- the salamander attack animation does not show in flicster. Does it work in the game?
- some units could use a bit more civilopedia info, but that's really not necessary gameplay-wise :)
Another thing: why does the Djinn use the Lava Giant graphics?

Edit: Another bug: the new excellent Aaglo Ironbreaker graphics replaced the Hammerer graphics instead of the old Ironbreaker.

And the Halfling has a Bombard Range of 4, but a Bombard Strength of 0. My guess it's intended to be the other way round, yes?

And the Lahmians can build both the Wight Infantry and the Tomb Guard, both 8/5/1, cost 40, req iron and adv Steele. I'm guessing the Wight Inf should be Sylvanian only, right?

No biggies though. Excellent job, Mr Do!!! :goodjob: There'll be many late nights from now on... :D

And even further: why is that crappy lava giant there in the first place  - if it is really going to stay in the game, I'm bound to make new animations for it ASAP!

File Not Fond:
art\civilopedia\icons\units\x_siegecivpediasm.pcx

You have: x_siege civpedia sm.pcx :)

A good Mod, thnx for you work.

Make pls a start military unit for Chaos Dwarfs. I need 16 for MU ( warrior Code). Meby i whil use to defense for Settler the Goblin Worker from Emperor dificulty?? :)

For he's a jolly good fellow, for he's a jolly good fellow, and so say all of us.
downloading

More bugs: upgrade chain broken for the greenskins. Now it's Snotling -> Orc Warrior -> Black Orc Warrior -> Black Orc Infantry. The Orc Infantry is left out of it and furthermore upgrades to itself.
I assume the correct chain should be Snotling -> Orc Warrior -> Black Orc Warrior -> Orc Infantry -> Black Orc Infantry.

A question out of pure curiousity: I assume that the reason for letting the Chaos Dwarves use the Dwarf Settler instead of the Hobgoblin Settler is the... er... dwarfness of their civilization, but why not use Aaglo's excellent Hobgoblin Worker instead of the Goblin Worker? And while you're at it: use the newly released Hobgoblin Spearman instead of the Goblin Spearman for the Chaos Dwarves.

Now I'm gonna get my Chaos Dwarves whipped by my fiancée and her evil lizardmen. Hotseat rulez!!! :D

I don't understand it, but it will not install. I start the exe file and everything seems to be in order - but it hasn't installed and the new components are simply not there.

I have installed the 2.02 patch and everything. I simply don't understand it.

What could be wrong?

If you unloaded it into the wrong folder, (ie by just clicking ok rather than browsing), Mr Do will laugh at you. He said he was going to do it on page 1.

and it works beautifully for me

Well maybe I wouldn't laugh at Frostyboy, he's ok...

Wolfhart- thanks for bringing that to my attention! I've re-sorted the upgrade chain so that the greenskins get the right order, and that the Chaos Dwarfs can build only the Black Orc Warrior and then later the Orc Infantry. I've not included those Hobgoblin units as the Goblins need a role to fulfill- slaves working the land, and the weakest of defenders fits them well!

Here's a simple bug to fix. the
"art\civilopedia\icons\units\NormanKnight_small.pcx"
is simply missing with a resulting crash when looking at what's available to build when checking out military training.

Well I think (really hope!) that I fixed that in the latest patch (look up a few posts). Let me know!

I have installed it in the main folder and strangely enough it doesn't give any sign of being installed after this. The units folder under WH2/Art has no new units.

What can have happened??

Uhh, the usual suspects- not enough disc space maybe? I really can't answer. I'm away for the rest of the week so can't help you out or make you a zipped version, sorry :(

Well, now the Chaos Dwarves won't be able to build the Orc Infantry ever, since the Orc Infantry of the 2nd Age now upgrades into the Black Orc Warrior of the 1st Age :mischief:
I'm very impressed though by the speed you're posting those patches :goodjob:

Thanks anyway!
I have enough discspace and it doesn't seem to be anything wrong in the first place. The 2.1 patch is supposed to just add new stuff to the WH2 folder and not anything more I reckon. But if I haven't solved the problem until you get back - hopefully you could help me getting the files I need to move them manually over to the folder. I really am looking forward to this new game :D
