Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

@Goldflash sneaking in a 40K unit into his requests!

Personally I wouldn't have bothered with a hobgoblin worker- the way I've set the CD's up, they use goblin workers and goblin spearmen, with no other goblin units since hobgoblins are already so thoroughly included. But others probably want it, so yay at a new direction for aaglo!

Drift's Trreman idea also reminded me how I'd love to see a Dryad unit made, what with Wood Elves so woefully under-represented with the available unit. Mind you, it might be worth waiting until much later in the year when the new Wood Elf army book is released, with what promises to be a plethora of new units (Including a heavy cavalry unit)...

@Mr. Do- so YOU may have set up somthgin where hobgoblins use goblin workers, and what not- but some us, like me, see aaglo hob-goblins as so superior to any other kind out thier, that they take the place of any and all "goblinoids"- to the point where they need a worker, and settler unit fo thier own, to fully flesh out the civlization

Hobgobbo worker is looking good

Goldflash has some good requests - the Orcs could really use some new units. I'd recommend looking at the Night Goblin Fanatics and Doom Divers and Squig Hoppers too, since those would be cool in the game and probably a lot of fun to animate.

Dwarves could use a bunch of units too. The Rangers, as mentioned earlier by someone, are needed. A Dwarf Miner with a tunneling paradrop animation like your Tomb Swarm would be nice too. Plus, some of the units like Ironbreakers and Longbears could stand replacing.

Oh, and Ogres. :D

Just food for thought.

Why don't we use the dwarf Ironmask (I did earlier) as an ironbreaker?

[Edit]; blast it, there's so may things I would want to do right away, and yet there's so little time... what a tragedy!

The only problem using your Ironmask as an Ironbreaker is that I had assumed that unit was being used for the Chaos Dwarves. Personally, I think the Ironmask would make a great Ironbreaker, but I don't think the Dwarves and their Chaotic cousins would have an advanced unit that looked exactly the same. A minor issue, and not one you should bother with making a unit for if you aren't interested in making the unit. I was just putting out suggestions for if you were interested more than requests for things that were immediately needed.

Perhaps before you leave skeletons completely, you might be able to make Black Knights and Hell Knights???

I'm sorry, did you think my, "But others probably want it, so yay at a new direction for aaglo!" was sarcasm? Because it wasn't, so don't take it personally or anything, please.

So many units, so little time...

poor guy, he's got a catapult through his head... :shakehead

I think that the brown is maybe a little too grey, but otherwise it looks ok. Apart from the fact that I'm wondering if anything will lay still in that "cup" when you try to shoot it. Maybe make it deeper...

It's looking good. My only suggestion would be to decrease the size of the "cup," since it seems that anything boulder or other projectile large enough to fit in it nicely would be as large or larger than the counterweight-head, and so the catapult wouldn't be able to fling its load. Of course, I slept through most of physics, so I could be wrong.

[edit] Now that I think about it, it would work with the current size because of distance from the fulcrum or some such physics nonsense. I retract my suggestion.

About the size of the cup-

Its Orky! Its Not Supposed ta look like it Workz!

I made the cup smaller - and a different shaped (do not worry, it's not round :p ). As you can see in this preview (with unit-size 8view)

Here's the Rock Lobba.

Another awesome unit on the way :)

Looks great. Also, I can palette-edit the hobgoblin red and then use it for Chaos Mages of MoM. :)

No chance :p . And since there is a stone almost constantly in the cup (in most anims that is), the hand would be barely visible :mischief: . . . and I'm also feeling a bit lazy

Maybe add some civ-color war-paint to the giant head? I dunno, just a thought.
