Warhammer fantasy units/graphics preview/development thread

The Nurgle plague demon (is barf his name? :) ), looks pretty sweet!
The only concern I had was the color of the eyes. With them blue (civ-colored), they look just like all the other blobs covering the body. I was thinking bright yellow always looks demonic, or possibly red... but of course it's your call. :D

yep, barf is his name :p . About the eyes: good call - maybe I'll recolour them red or black. and I'll have to edit the head a bit nevertheless - it looks like a head of a teddybear :lol:

Looks eve nmore disgusting than before....nice job!

Looks good. However, red eyes will blend in with the boils with red civ color (unfortunately the one used by WH chaos, right?) How would they look if they were black and bigger?

That demon is definately looking good. I agree with Mrtn on the eye color - a sickly yellow-green might do nicely.

Maybe giving the inside edge of the sword a serrated edge would look good? Giving weapons a little variety is always nice. Just a thought. :)

Serrated? you mean a saw-like edge? It has that on both edges, but propably i should make it more visible (so it shows also in the civ-scale).

Here's updated unclean.

No, you don't agree with me. :p Actually I think yellow is preferable to yellow-green.

That new serrated edge looks too big, something inbetween the two sizes would be best I think, and only at the back side of a (slightly curved, preferably) blade.
Huh, now I did agree with Gomurr? :hmm:

Oh, and aaglo, you know I can find tiny details to complain about till my eyes bleed, but I do like it, you know. ;)

Edit: Seeing it again, the edges may be the right size at civ size, but it do look a bit silly in that bigger size...

teehee the great unclean one looks a bit too "cute" imo, it's not disgusting enough imo

this is a mighty fine example of a nurgle major demon:
click me

also what stats will the great unclean one be getting? I'm asking because he's a very dangerous unit in WH, very very dangerous

I also agree with Gomurr about representing the major demons, in WH you can't even safely field all of them next to each other, so it would look weird to me, to see 3 great unclean ones running around followed by a bloodthirster a keeper of secrets and pack of lords of change swooping overhead, although you have the freedom to take this wherever you want as you are doing a mighty fine job :D

I like the changes, but maybe tone down the jaggedness of the blade. Also, does he vomit over his enemies? :vomit: ;)

This new model type (big, bulky blob) has interesting possibilities. A better troll and a better earth elemental are the most obvious options. But I believe you already have more than enough on your plate. However, wouldn't this be a good base for the ogres?

Not that I encourage nitpicking when someone is in agreement with me (with a :p directed at Mrtn), but I very distinctly stated at least twice that I have no interest in seeing the other demons represented. :) I don't care much for Chaos, or its demons, and I don't want anyone to get the impression that I'm requesting that a bunch of demon units be made.

@aaglo
I agree with the comments about the serration - it's a tad bit overdone. And I reiterate my humble opinion that it would look best is only the inside edge is serrated. I could very well be wrong, though, so if you think it looks best serrated on both edges, then I'm in no position to object.

One other completely ignorable comment - the Unclean One images I've seen all seem to have fat stomachs. In at least one model the gut seemed to hang down to the creatures knees. As such, the unit might be a little skinny. However, this isn't very noticeable, so if you don't want to bother with it, it won't detract from the unit. :)

Hmmm.. In the nurgle daemon I was going to do eventualy I tried to give an appearance of unhealthyness by making his body fat, but his arms and legs quite skinny. You may ask, how good can he be in combat when he looks so weak? He's an evil daemon! I've made the blade huge so that when he wields it with ease you can see just how supernatural he is!

With the greater deamon try to make it look more "fatty" and less "strong".
I wanted to make mine wobble a bit when moving but I couldn't get it to look quite right.

I for one prefer the bulky, strong looking demon. I guess he could have a bigger belly, but that's not an issue for me.

Here's yet another{/i] update
- a bit reshaped torso (added belly)
- a bit different looking sword (is this what you had in mind)
- torso lowered a bit
- jagged, blunt teeth (maybe they should be smaller?)

@dottim,
I know that this does not look very much like the unclean model from whfb. And there's a good reason for it - it's not really worth the effort;
1# a lot of those gutpieces and sores really don't show in civ-scale
2# you propably won't have to look these a lot (I certainly hope you don't have to)
3# there are many other units that are not exactly like whfb-models (because they are just too ridiculous)

I also agree, that there is some cuteness in this blob. :mischief:
Anyhoo, here's an updated preview.

[Edit]: About animations to this unit: I'll propably make only the 5 required: default, run, fortify, attack and death. Since it's a demon, it doesn't fidget. For the same reason he does not need to celebrate his victories... :mischief:

It does look better than before. I'd say it's ready for production. :)

@aaglo
it looks disgustingly awesome. :)

@smoking mirror
With a little bit of editing, your prototype for the nurgle demon would work really well as a Plaguebearer demon of Nurgle. It were certainly be useful in the WH2 mod, if you pursue finishing the unit.
