[BTS] Warhammer FB Conversion Beta - Download/Debug Thread

Hello,

I have quite annoying a bug : I nearly have no text displayed during the game. In fact, even the start menu is "empty". I can still find the menu items at their usual places, but only the glowing arrows "around" the missing text can be seen.

Civpedia is "empty" too, with only the number of research points displayed.


Let me say that I'm using BtS 3.13, French version, and that other mods work perfectly well with it.

Also, I tried to find the latest patch for your mod, but I couldn't find any link to it... is that a mistake on your part, or do I need elven eyes to replace mine ?

The mod doesn't support other languages as english. You will have to set up your game as english to play it which is easily done in the gameoptions.

May I, thus, respectfully suggest that you say so on the download page ?
This would avoid people getting this problem. In fact, a better again thing would be to translate one word for each language, in the main menu : The "Options" word. And replace it with, maybe, the equivalent of "Please set your game language to English". Thus, people wanting to play would see the message, and clicking on it would bring the "Options" screen.

How does it sound ?

(I can even provide a french sentence for you :
"Ce Mod nécessite de configurer Civ4 en Anglais. [Configurer]"
which means
"This Mod needs Civ4 to be configured for English language. [Configure]")
 
I just redownloaded the mod and started a game with a huge map and with all possible gameoptions selected. No ctd with me. Are you sure you installed it correctly? As you have Vista is UAC disabled? Maybe corrupted download?

I experience the same trouble as PL. I'm running Vista with UAC disabled. The crash is directly after all options are set and CIV starts its initializing of the game.

In addition, when trying to go for a scenario and choosing the warhammer map tha game actually starts but it seems that I don't get any start position hence I loose the game instantly.

I will await PLs verdict of re-downloading the mod...
 
well i reDLed the mod, extracted the warhammer.7z in the mods folder, extracted the soundtrack in the BTS folder, and it still CTDs on me :confused:

actually the map should already work. I'm sorry I don't have vista so I really can't tell what to do. You both should get bloody ol' xp for sure. It's cheap on ebay and less trouble with most applications.
You might send me the logfiles you get though for what it's worth...If you can enter the game there must be some logs.
PL do you know any Vistauser with skills you might pester having a look at it?
 
woodelf and kael both have vista, my brother is a computer wiz, but hes in bulgaria. im pretty sure i have XP lying around here somewhere... but that will require reformatting my computer, which i really dont want to have to do :sad:

There are always a lot of problems with vista and civ mods, i think i remember seeing a compatability mod somewhere that mad civ run more reliably on vista machines... perhaps we could merge that with WH?........

You could install xp as second OS without formatting your comp. But Kael might have a look at it this weekend.
 
I downloaded the mod version 0.12 yesterday and it works fairly well and is generally very enjoyable. I made it to about turn 300 as high elves in a standard custom game marathon speed and the game gets stuck waiting on other civilizations. I have reloaded repeatedly and have the same problem. The game still lets me quit, it just never advances.

Also, is there any documentation on the game outside of the civilopedia?
 
I'm aware of the endless loop problem. It's not yet solved however. Could you maybe provide a save just one turn before the loop so I can verify if it's the same problem?

There's no documentation outside the pedia but a lot of backgroundinfo can be found on Games workshop websites or Warhammerwikis.
 
If I do things slightly differently, it gives me a few more turns till the endless loop. But, I did finally capture it in a save.
 
Loooong time lurker of the civ boards, never really bothered posting before.
But this pack impressed me (Also, FFH is amazing, I bought BtS to play it, and have yet to play a regular BTS game - partly I hate espionage and corporations). I like the Warhammer setting (though I never actually played the tabletop game). Is there going to be a map of the warhammer world with appropriate resource placement/start positions? Or a scenario?

Just tried out a first game, as Bretonnians (I started a game as Empire but it crashed at the end of the first turn - probably because of some of the custom game options I selected? Aggressive AI, no AI build requirements, a few others)

Anyway, first couple of bugs I noticed:
The corral doesnt seem to be buildable, despite having the prereq tech.
Great sages can make Academies and Great Generals can make war academies (the 50% production bonus) despite not having the prereq techs.

The Bretonnians seem to get a basic knight (their knight errant regiment IIRC?) that is *weaker* than the unit it replaces (strength 8 vs strength 10). That can't be right?

Returning to Lurkerdom.... (but might post more bugs to squash).

Able to continue though... :D My 50c is that a barb got wacked attacking my city, and the animosity unit got the "showem" result but had no enemy adjacent to pick on.

Playing Living World is an oops for a greenskin civ. Have had 30 animosities in 68 turns. Maybe no animosity checks when adjacent to enemy? Gobbos 41 Barbs 17 (with 4 getems and 1 showem, so technically its Me 41 Barbs 12). There was about a 30 turn siege of barbarian spam :eek: after I knocked the dwarves out. On the offensive now. Phew. :crazyeye:

wow, i can see the whole world map on turn 1. Just start a game as karl franz on the warhammer map. Got up to 122, but wanted to check out animosity...:mischief:

corrals are only buildable by reconunits.

It's intended that Knight errants are weaker than ordinary knights, yes. But they upgrade with experience to Knights of the Relam and then Pegasus Knights.

Balancefeedback about the worldmap would be very welcome. Sometimes it seems to load unstable I've yet to track that one down.

I don't know why the techprereqs don't work with foundingbuildings but it's definitly a bug

Events don't have any effect on animosity. Most events are currently removed from the mod and will be added much later again. You might find units with the disciplinepromotion useful to handle your unruly lot(Get a Warlord join a unit and promote to discipline).
