[BTS] Warhammer FB Conversion Beta - Download/Debug Thread

Pyton error upon promoting to Chaos III (Exalted Chaos Sorceror). The unit had both Tzeentch and Nurgle promotions.

Happens every time you select a chaos 3 unit, but game seems to continue fine afterwards.
 
Dragons (dark elf black dragon anyway) seems to be unattackable because of fear effects. This is ok in FFH because you can get around it with Courage, a level 1 spirit spell that every faction has access to. But there's nothing like that here, so I just can't attack the city with the dragon in it, even when after a ton of debuff chaos spells and cannon bombardment my chaos knights would be able to take the dragon down.

Reduce the fear chance to like 25-35% or so, not 100% as it seems to be currently.

Also, spell ranges aren't clear. Some spells say range+1 (even some designed to target friendly units in your own stack), others say range+2, but the actual range of these doesn't seem to be consistent; for example, many range+1 spells are able to target units 2 tiles away (ie 1 empty tile between caster and target).
It will be very helpful once enough text clues are added to accurately describe all the spells.
 
So, could the next patch please NOT break saves? It's no fun if I can't pick up where I left off. :( Thanks.
 
thats a pretty difficult demand RLaF... most everything will break saves, so if you want to finish a game id suggest finishing it before you patch it. or have 2 versions, one patched to date and one with older games running :p

I know. I'm sorry. Maybe I should do the two version thing you suggest, reluctant as I am to do so. (Been thinkin bout it for while, but my PC doesn't have lotta space.) Oh, well, I gotta do wat I gotta do to enjoy a great mod.
 
Adaptive python exemption bug... Able to click on my trait that i want twice for it to finally realise it (no biggie). Able to continue. Akabar is now Adaptive/Organised/Spiritual. I can also select creative from the list of options (you may want to erase that, as no leaders have the trait anymore).

I also noticed some civs traits been changed, (woohoo :) - must of happened in patch d) so some of the patsy leaders are more exciting to play...

Fear is even worse than I'd realised; you can't even attack Cold Ones because of fear effects!
Pretty hard to fight Dark elves when you can't attack any of their cities because of fear effects.
The AI will also suffer from the save problems that Acheron causes in FFH, but even worse; they will keep attacking over and over, and just sitting there when they can't attack because of the fear effect.

Try this save if you want to experiment.

Also, notice for reasons unknown I get line of sight into random areas in other peoples' empires?

And note that the chaos 3 bug mentioned above *doesn't* happen when you select the unit after it has already cast a spell for the turn. So its related to some of the spells being castable.

Is it intended that Winds level 2 casters (heirophant, bright wizard etc) don't require level 4 to upgrade to?

Among other potential balance problems, this reduces the value of the Arcane trait.

Though, they don't get channeling2, so maybe this is fine.
 
Um... 41 great spies from the Council of 13 by turn 116 on the cities map. I thought wt:eek: A close look reveals a population of 1 city (Hellpit, only city they have) with a palace AND a forbidden palace (as it only give 1 GPP per turn... um?? :confused:). When the map got made, obviously someone forgot to remove the forbidden palace there. But 41 great spies by turn 116?? :confused:

Er the third picture has nothing to do with WHFB...;)

At last, after four games, I have some weird stuff to report (game version 0.13D):

Playing the orcs on a tectonic map, I had a python exception :

Related or not, a bit latter I had the message "a great cleric spawns in a far away land" every turn for 20+ turns. I loaded once, but it kept happening, here's the save.

It looks like the Sylvannian city graphics are missing; all that shows up are the models for the buildings in their cities, not the actual cities themselves.

Also, is it intended that the Steamtank can't get any promotions?
There aren't any promotions enabled for armored units. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be able to get say combat and drill promotions.
You might also want to think about making it a gunpowder unit, rather than armored unit, so that pinch will work against it and they ignore castles and city walls.

There is something strange going on with city defences (ie the % city defence bonus from fortifications). Are all the various bonuses supposed to stack like in FFH, or not? Its unclear to what extent they do.
For example, I bombard a city with 55% defence displayed, and it drops to 48%, but says that it just droppd to 68% in the message text. 48% seems to be the actual bonus given to defensive units, whether from gunpowder attackers or not.

Empire has (I think) the Roman voice response sounds? Give them the ones from German units, or HRE.

Both adaptive trait civs, skaven and hobgobla, receive a great person every turn for at least the last 40 turns. This has gone on for awhile before that, but now I know the culprits from a cheated worldbuilder granting navigation. Check out Hell Pits 41 spies and great people merchant caravans! (graphic from earlier post). Me as the Kindoms of Ind (an adaptive trait civ also) only have a total of 3 great persons after 145 odd turns. Us indians are rather jealous of our adaptive cousins ;):mad::lol: Obviously it only works for the ai:(

However, the large amounts of traits gathered by adaptive is fixed. I still have just 2+adaptive after another changeover. Yay;)

Save accompanied. Hear the commentary: merchant (most likely) in Hell Pit, and cleric (most likely) in Cahokia. Voila, im psychic;). Happens each turn.

Shrine of Old Ones had ChangeReligion Old ones on it. But it can only be built by Amazonians and Lustian Empire and they both start with Old One's Religion anyway.

It has been a while, and anxious to know what the status of the mod is today, I just downloaded 0.13 with the D patch. Couldn't wait to play, especially a map with all cities preplaced.

Unfortunately I can't start a game. I chose 'single player', 'scenario' and tried both Warhammer and cities once. Game gave a standard windows error when it finished initialising the game. I threw away the old warhammer map in scenarios before placing the new one.

Is this the right place to mention it? Common problem? Solvable?

Can't wait to see the outstanding work you did. I'll look into it again tomorrow. Thanks on forehand and much succes in further development!

do you have CIV patched to 3.17?
 
Yeah, 0.13 is set to work with Patch 3.17.
 
Played Luccini (guy with insane trait). If your insane trait picks up only 2 random traits (+std insane), your game becomes bugged after the Humakty error :((eg. a CTD or -32769 food are 2 examples so far). If it picks up 3 traits + insane everything is sweet:). Your insane trait check also occurs very regularly.:(

Fully patched, tried the Warhammer map as empire, it crashed after a few turns because of this python error (already reported above, probably ork related).

I restarted and it generally seems to work fine (I'm fully patched). Still has that bug sometimes, but mostly it doesn't crash the game.

There is definitely something up though with great person spawning, particularly great spy and great general. Look at Tylos (Tilean capital). It suddenly started spawning Great Generals like crazy.
