Warlords Patch 2.08 Released!

It's gonna be fun days. Just last night someone complained in the multiplayer that his "expansive workers arent 50% faster like they said!! >.<" .. some people always read 10% of something and make up the other 90% in their mind and then claim that their imagination is reality. Still, its pretty cool that they do so I guess.

I love the patch, it nerfed the incas, since only 1 side can get civil, each side really needed an inca prepatch. I'd say its still worth getting math, but without the prophet for civil, I guess its not possible anymore.

Um... I was modding by game and fogot to change my files back to the original when I downloaded the patch (I did it inside civilization). Do I have to reinstall my game in order to get the updated XML files?

Edit: Wait, never mind. I just reinstalled the patch.

I'm disappointed it doesn't allow you to use more than 18 civs still. Anyone know how to get around that without a mod?

Please also note that Expansive workers are produced more cheaply, they don't work faster. Careless wording by firaxis.

Siege units not defending when they 'should be' cost me a lot of units in one recent war, when I was working on the assumption that the best defender always defended.
Well, for one, this makes Hwacha muuuuuuuuuuuuuuch more powerful. Now I don't need a single Axeman to attack. Just Spearmen to counter the horses and I can have a 90-95% Hwacha army.
* CS slingshot pretty heavily nerfed - IMO it's going to pretty much impossible to do now except on lower levels, since you now need mathematics for CS.
The old CS slingshot was only reliable at Prince or lower anyway. Oh yeah, BTW I just posted a how-to CS Slingshot at the Ottoman Gunpowder Beeline thread. :D
* Walls and castles now actually look like they're sometimes worth building (I'd love to know what the 25% protection to bombardment means though. Bombardment fails 25% of time? Bombarment reduces defenses by 25% less?)
Walls + Castle mean you lose 25% less defense each when bombarded. For example, a Catapult (without Accuracy) reduces defense by 15% of the max. So if you have a Wall+Castle, you lose 50% less, so you should lose only 7.5% of your max cultural defence per catapult.

Patched through the game -- works fine for me. I find it somewhat surprising that it's listed as Final Version. I hope that means final version of 2.08 not CivWarlords. Odds are they missed something or created new problems.

The fact that QA kept this release so long suggests a disturbing paradigm. One shot one patch, if you don't have the right hardware or if there's a seldom occuring problem -- oh well.

I installed last night, and no problems to report so far.

:D

Nice to see the leaderhead swap and fix properly integrated now as the first obvious change.

When I installed it it kept saying I didn't have the CD even though I had the cd IN THE DRIVE. And my dvd drive isn't messed up either, I just got it replaced and works fine for everything else. I even put it in and the window pops up for Warlords and I click play and it says I don't have the right cd. :(

That versions the same size as the no-cd check one that firaxis posted accidently earlier today. :)
What are the two different file sizes between the CD and no-CD patches? I want to know which one I have and I havn't had a chance to install it yet.

No CD version is 62,041,451 bytes

CD version is 67,299,871 bytes

Many people suggested a reinstall before the patch.
Do you mean reinstall both Civ4 and Warlords exp. or just Warlords?
Thanks.

No need to do either unless you have modded Warlords in some way...and even then not necessary.

I did try a reinstall per my problem, but the same thing happened. I know most people don't usually have issues with patches but sometimes for one reason or another it doesn't work for someone. It's all because they had to put a "CD Check" but a lot of times those are extreme. If I HAVE the CD then why can't I use it as well?

One of the changes in the list supplied by Alexman does not appear in my game: the attitude of the other leaders still doesn't show up unless one lets the cursor rest on them.

Yes, it appears that there are at least a couple changes in that changelog that did not actually make it into the patch. For example, the Barbarians are still unable to make any Spearmen (or Galleys, for that matter), per alexman's post on the other "Warlords Patch" thread in this forum. Hopefully they will post an updated changelog soon.

Something minor I've noticed in three post-patch games: the game suggests I build a city right on top of a resource (once Horse, twice Stone). Is there a reason for that?
