Was going great, not so much now...

So I'm not super great with computers but I was playing Civ 4 BTS and everything has been working fine for quite some time now. However, one day I got on and everything is running VERY slow. I have turned all the graphics and video settings down to the lowest levels and it is the same no matter what.

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 running Vista 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2GHz 4GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT bought the laptop roughly year and a half ago and has run perfectly until this recent hiccup.

Any help would be appreciated (just remember I'm not as well-versed on computers, so any instructions will probably need to be a bit more basic...thanks!)

If you play on larger maps and the time advances, more units and cities will be on the map. The game will run slower. Its just the time the computer thinks about all the moves. When you start another game, all will be fast again.

If this is not the issue, it might be something else. Try reinstalling the game.
