Watching allied turns. Need some help.

In Civ4, I always relished the oportunity to turn off having to sit through allied turns. Is this possible in Civ5? I haven't found it in the options menu. Sitting through 3-4 minutes of allied battles is getting tiresome.

I think you have to turn all combat animations off by choosing "quick combat" in the advanced options at the beginning of the game. You can also change the game files to force quick combat in every game you play. Instructions are here:

The only other option is to switch to strategic view before you end your turn.
