We have only our second Civ 4 GOTM eptathlon winner - this time, its Lexad.

Lexad has been playing the Civ4 GOTMs & WOTMs for the last 12 months or so, and has been fairly regularly winning awards. His 'best' performance before now was a bronze medal in GOTM 10. But as an indication of his all-round ability, winning "fastest finish" awards in all victory types along with the cow for highest base score, he wins the eptathlon.

Well done, Lexad! :D

Thanx to all! Two key factors were great mentors (akots, Dynamic, Obormot, Witan - my CFR team pals) and great competitors, especially in HoF tournies (Gosha190, Grey Cardinal, jesusin, WastinTime, Moonsinger, The-Hawk et al.) who made me constantly seek improvements of my gameplay. And, of course, much spare time :D

Next... Maybe WOTM Eptathlon, dunno :D Too bad Grey Cardinal is too busy in the May, or we would've seen another Eptathlete next update. Hope he can spare some time in summer.

The meaning is ~ "way to go!"

Congrats Lexad! I am just glad you were not chasing a cow in WOTM 8 when I decided (actually, the game decided for me :D ) to go for it in that one! ;)

The meaning is ~ "way to go!"
That is the idiomatic translation, but I am now curious about the literal one. Online translators give "thus" and "so" for так and "carry" and "hold" for держать, making it perhaps similar to the English "carry on" as an expression of the idea to "continue on in just this way". "Keep it up" would be another English expression that might fit так держать, although somewhat less literally.

It is the direct equivalent of the order "Steady as she goes"
Literally, "Hold [the rudder] as it is"
Idiomatically it means encouragament "You've been doing great" (because there is no need to adjust course) and expectations of even greater glory (if you don't veer off this correct course).
So, "Way to go!" just about sums it up.

Outstanding! Of all the competitions and accomplishments on Civfanatics, the Eptathlon is the one I find most impressive. Elite performance over many styles of play.

:goodjob:

Thanx! Btw, Balbes is the player who could seize the same prize very soon - I had the pleasure playing alongside him in SGOTM-2 and watching him excel in SGOTM-3, that's one very good and efficient player all right. Так держать! :D

Thanx, but nah, no record - A`AbarachAmadan did it in like 8 submissions or something; my first GOTM (GOTM4) was my 4th game in Civ overall, so I learned while played, and it took me 12 submissions to learn, including busted Deity one :D
