Most of the other teams have threads on the main borad, we should have one to. We might bring in some new people, which is always good.

I was thinking of posting a thread in the main forum about our founding of Buddhism. Yea/Nay? (Are we trying to conceal our founding for as long as possible from the lazy teams?)

Once it's founded I see no reason not to post about it although the game mods may have a different opinion.

Once we found it someone else will congratulate us in the main forum. People like to chat it up there when milestones are reached. So lets wait for someone to notice, then we can ham it up if we want.

Being the first to found a religion actually gives us the opportunity to do a disinformation campaign if we wanted. We could hint that we are going to work the middle of the tech tree or that we are a roleplaying first kinda team to get other teams to underestimate us. But I'd probably just stay low key right now.

We should absolutely announce it publicly, and we should do it in such a way as to give the other teams 'information' to speculate about. We could announce that we intend on snapping up as many religions as possible, because the True Gods placed their favored people on this world in order to glorify their Creation; Apostasy will not be tolerated; blah, blah, blah....

But, like Galdarian said, we shouldn't make the announcement until we've founded the religion. But there's no reason not to prepare now.

I'm indifferent to such an announcement. Couldn't hurt, but this game has had more people complaining about other teams than ever before - from the lighthouse stuff at the start and the turn timer and see some random guy who just started a thread to annoy team MERLOT.

That said, I think wonders/religions are always in the clear, we can announce what our glorious empire has achieved, as long as we do so tastefully. So sure, go ahead - or we could do this as a combo in 5-6 turns with Stonehenge as well.

Although I forgot about this: no one knows it was us that founded the religion. They can see that Buddhism has been founded, but not who founded it. Same with Stonehenge. Any benefits to this?

At least until we convert- then it'll be right there in their faces.

Yeah, we should say some random sutff about gungho Buddhists and monuments to Buddha. Stuff like that. Really cheesey and over dramatic.

Provo, could you explain more clearly why you think we should keep it a secret? Most of the people commenting have either said they support an announcement or don't mind one.

I think we benefit from keeping the other civs in the dark, as they then will make less informed in-game decisions. If someone from another team breaks the story in the main forum, only then we should make a communique.

I agree with Provolution - only reveal something when it's in our best interest to do so, not just to thumb our collective noses at people.

Well, at this point we don't really have contact with everyone yet, so yeah we don't have to announce it's us with a religion or wonder. Not a big deal by me either.
