I just found a thread that was closed in the civ3 general discussions. It had a poll which had 297 votes! Also all three options had exactly 99 votes each. How can this happen?

Here is a link

I don't know why he did it, but I find the editing of spammy polls one of the better and more subtle of moderator tactics. :D

Couldn't have said it better, myself. ;) :goodjob:

Editing a poll can be taken as a warning sign. Often I just reset the votes to zero or set them all to the same unlikely value if it is a minor problem. When I change both the options and the vote counts, you can be sure I was unhappy about the poll. In this case, I spent about half an hour cleaning up spam littered throughout the forums by that user.

I have a "vacation" waiting for him if he continues with this behavior.

I remember when someone posted a poll for favorite moderator, and AOA closed it, set all the votes to zero, added an option, "Moderator discussions aren't allowed," and gave it 9999 votes. Or something like that...

I think editing polls is probably the best way to get the original poster's attention, and at the same time it's sort of entertaining for the rest of us. :D

I remember an inappropriate thread/poll and Lefty or AoA edited it out with the sole option of "Lefty and AoA if they see this again" and the question was edited, too.

I find that sends a good message, with a little humor.
