Alright, so I have been bugging the guy about the status of the mod. I don't really want to post the entire PM (because there are some surprises in there and it would make sense if I edited them out), but he basically told me that everything is going fine and he just wanted to update some of the features I requested. He said he would be finished around Sunday night. This means that I would still have to merge it in (which should be difficult) and then polish it up, package it, and upload it. So I'm thinking the next playtest will be out sometime next week. Probably towards the middle of the week so Wednesday or Thursday.

As before I intend on inviting most of the playtesters, but as there hasn't been much activity here recently I am also going to ask for volunteers. If you want to volunteer to playtest for Diplomacy II, please PM me. Posting here will NOT fulfill a request, I really need you to PM me rather than post here.

As far as optimizations go, v9.1 is ready.
I do plan to include Bakuel's and Bernie's new units thou, but those are ok as they come.

Just to let you know that I got another rush of optimization, check out v9.2.

Avain, is there also a list of optimizations done for 9.1? Or rather just a total list available I could take a look at so I can get this all taken care of?

I'm also working on optimizing Zerver's modern units, well, at least shrinking down the texture sizes.

Okay everyone, there is some bad news. Well sort of bad news.

The guy who was putting together the next playtest for me said that he experienced a bunch of CTDs while testing it out, but he basically just merged everything first and then tried it. What he probably should have done is put in something, test it, put in the next thing, test it, put in another thing, test it, and so on and so forth. Well that is what we are going to do now.

So at some point either today or tomorrow any playtesters will receive a PM with a link to the next playtest. These playtests are going to come every other day or every other couple of days so be prepared to playtest like crazy. :crazyeye:

BTW, The Capo, is there new art in the new playtest? That'd be sg I'd really be interested in;)
 
There may be a couple new things in the next playtests, but after we get it updated with all of the new features I am going to do a major update of the units, which includes optimizations and new models. So you might just want to wait for that one. There are probably maybe like ten new units in this upcoming playtest.
 
So you guys are probably wondering what happened with the playtests. Well I figured the BEST way to go about this would be just for me to check if each "patch" (he's sending me a patch each day) works, and once I get everything compiled send out one playtest to a few of you. This way you guys can get some quality and completed tests finished rather than rushing through them each day.

This is ALMOST the end of the line boys, so right now is the most important time in the mod's development. After this we are going to discuss the Inquisitors once more, then either put them in or move on to the final polish (graphics, game-text etc.) and then that's all for Diplomacy II...

...well, then its time to make modules, which will be much more fun and a lot less time-consuming. :goodjob:

Well, I haven't heard back from my man in well over a week, so I'm begining to become a bit worried. Fortunately some things were finished on it, so if he doesn't respond to my PMs within the next couple of days I'll start preparing the next playtest as it is now. It isn't bad, but I was hoping to have more content when I gave you guys the next one, this will delay the mod considerably, especially if he never responds :( .

You know, this is exactly what happens if you outsource your work to a god forsaken, exotic location. It's cheap like hell, but then comes a tsunami or a monkey cuts a phone line and BAM! it's game over! ;)
 
Okay, some good news guys.

Firstly I heard back from the guy, he had been going with some RL issues but said he could get the next patch for me done shortly. Which will have Super Spies in it, so once I get that I gotta do the new XML file updates, add the new traits and maybe do another unit optimization.

In the meantime I am going to need one of you guys who has been working on LH personalities to PM me because I have to send you the new XML files because something needs to be added to their personalities... so yeah, someone PM me about it.

The mod is definitely under development, and is actually in the final stages. The only problem is my coding abilities are very limited so I had to get outside help, and since this person is a modder themselves their time is limited. But it will definitely be done before Civ V comes out.

Anyway, just an update here, I am going to do another unit and LH optimization (this one will be extensive) as I await the next patch for the mod. I was told it would be finished in a couple of days, but that was a couple of days ago. I am hoping for a Monday or Tuesday release of the next playtest, and then the FINAL one should be two weeks following that. If all goes according to plan (and of course it never does) the mod should be finished in around a month. :goodjob:
 
It has been nearly a month since my last update here, so I feel pretty badly about that (sorry everyone), I have just been really busy and coupled with the fact that the majority of the rest of the work that needs to be done is out of my direct control (someone else is working on it for me), it pretty much means I don't know how long everything will take.

Having said that a lot of cool things have been done to the mod so far, and I am nearly finished getting the leaderheads in proper order (I think there are going to be one or two more changes and then it should be finished; that includes art, text, xml, everything). I SHOULD have some previews of some new units sometime today, and this means original units that would not be available anywhere else (in this case I am talking about Great People), and I intend on starting on the process of optimizing units, which shoiuldn't take long thanks to avain, but should be exceedingly boring. So we'll see how long that takes. Once that is finished I will put out the next playtest, unless of course my coder decides to wake up and send me the next patch, if that happens I'll add the next patch and THEN send it out for playtesting. The only reason I am waiting is because an updated SuperSpies will be part of the next patch and I think the Nationalistic trait is a bit nerfed without SS in the game. If anyone has any questions about any of this feel free to ask. Thanks. :goodjob:
 
Alright, well there seems to be some bad news. I have waited around a month just to get the next update from my code guy and he is nowhere to be found, he hasn't replied to my PMs (even though I know he has been online to see them) or my e-mails. So I am a little upset, well I am more than a little upset. I think what I am going to do now is try to get a playtest ready for you guys and then from there we can decide what else needs to be done. This is definitely a low-point right now for this mod, and there are only 22 days before Civ V comes out.
