Welcome

Welcome ThERat! You're going to fit right in with this crew.

In this game there are two key elements imo....

1. Turnplay (which you understand very well). Except for some minor intracacies with PBEMs. Tubs can you find our old "how to"?

IE one difference is PBEMs are a little different in that workers finish their work a turn before and then can't move the turn they finished.

2. Diplomacy. Dealing with humans is quite a bit different! Fortunately, we have 3 player (of the 4 teams) playing with us that handled diplo for their team in first MTDG so I think we have an advantage here.

We're anarchists so we won't vote for president and crazy stuff. It will be handled like a SG. Something you're very aware of. :D

thanks for the explanation

yeah, I like anarchists...

Welcome, ThERat! We haven't been officially introduced, but I've followed many of the SG's you've played in. I'm delighted to have the chance to get to know you.

:D I have seen a picture of you somewhere in some forum, though never played with you in a SG. Let's hope this turns out well...our team surly got some seasoned members

we also have greebley coming on board. So that brings us up to 15.

It would be nice if we could utilize WackenOpenAir's farmers philosophy. Whomp has already PM'ed him, but I'll go look for his strategy at CDZ and memorize it.

this Freudian slip could have been our team"s name. Welcome.

Ah, Booti, how would this team survive without your astute observations? You never fail to make me grin and I like the name "surly" too. :D

Hey all,
I am new at multiplayer games as well as demogames, but it sounded interesting so here I am. I have played quite a number of SG's however (probably too many) and a lot of Always War games.

Some Questions:

1) Anything I should read as a newbie on how things are done?
2) Are there any AI players to fill out the map or is it only the 5 teams?
3) Do we start up threads on any topic we want in the forums? For example, being new to mp games I might consider starting a thread on how MP games are different from SP games (general hints on avoiding gotcha's that any MP vet would know well, but a newbie might stumble across - of course it may also come up in regular discussion, but preknowledge could be of help). Not sure if that would be an appropriate post though as it has zero to do with the current game.

Welcome Greebly!

We are a merry anarchy dedicated to enjoying ourselves.

I am not "experienced" at MP, or "good" at Civ III, or really appreciated by "polite society" but this is genrally how it works...

There will be a few main threads where discussion and insturctions will be hashed out along general lines (domestic affairs, diplomacy, war-making, etc).

We pretty much gain a consensus and the trun-player takes the turn. Turn players are usually determined by schedule (who can play the save in the alloted time) and skill (micro-managers, war-mongers, etc.).

Start threads if you want. If there is interest, they will fly, if not, they die. In that respect I guess we are a sort of anarcho-capitalist commune (without the repression).

Hope this helps. If so, it is a first.

Welcome, Greebley! I've followed and enjoyed many of your SG's. :D

It's only the 5 teams. Since each turn has to be passed among each of the 5 teams before we can play the next turn, you'll find that to be quite enough. ;)

As Booti said, you can start threads on almost anything. Spam is discouraged by the Admins, but not totally forbidden, and many of the threads can wander way off topic more than in the public forums. A good example from Team KISS in the last game was when Tubby announced a new child who was still a "bun in the oven" and the celebratory discussions after he was born. Another example was Bugs asking for critical feedback on his new CD's music. We have a lot more latitude in our private forum.

Yeah E-Train has stuck. I've never seen a kid get a nickname before he's born that fits... but E-train fits. Even Sherry calls him that  Now he's destined to be a running back or a tight end

That's funny. Just think if you had something to do with that nickname he'd probably be called Walker, Texas Ranger or sumpin. :p

Anyone else having kids? I'm here to serve your nickname needs. :D

btw my nickname for BCLG100 is "Boy carries large guns....100's of them".
