Quotey said:Not really. Short history of the beggining:
James VI of Scotland (Son of Mary Tudor) was king of Scotland when Queen Victoria died. Vicky didn't have any heirs, so the natural option was to unite the countries. James VI of Scotland was ALSO James I of England, and that was basically when GB was formed.

All that, plus a few island states such as the Isle of Man, or Jersey, etc. I'm not sure what status Gibraltar has, but I think it's officially part of England. I know that the Isle of Wight (Wight being ye olde English for 'man' - confusingly), the Scilly Isles, and the Falklands are all part of England, and the northen islands (can't remember their names off hand) are part of Scotland.
Also you might be interested to know that Cardiff is the youngest capital city in Europe. There are older cities that have been the capital of their country for less time, but no cities less than 100 years old are capitals. Cardiff only qualfied to be called a city in 1905, and became the capital of Wales in 1955. [/random fact]
MooManof_ said:Ok, I admit I wasn't too sure about the Isle of Man, but Stonehenge was built by the Britons who were driven into the Welsh mountains by the Angles and the Saxons. England as a coherant nation is about 1500 years old, give or take a century, and is older than most European nations including (barely) France and Germany. The UK on the other hand is about 500-600 years old, and even then has more history than the US. Although the US did reach it's peak rather quickly (admittedly by borrowing heavily from other countries early on), and should be in the game as a superpower of sorts... I just like then in the game because they often make easy allies with the English (myself and I can 'encourage' them to do my bidding)
