WH Discussion Thread

And here I was wondering how a guy who registered a whole year and a half after I did could have almost as many posts as me.......

:p

Nice changes, mrtn. ;)

I'll be home tonight and ready to discuss the matters you wanted (in about 9 hours). I wonder what do you want to discuss about the treeman though (that means I'm exited to hear your rants about the list I made).

Oh, are you sure I wanted the leadbelcher to become cheaper than it already was (I already forgot what I wrote to that list).

Suggestions to dragon ogre and shaggoth:
Dragon ogre: 13.5.2, +2 HP, cost around 140
Shaggoth: 19.8.2, +3 HP, cost around 300

About shaggoth & storm rage: what does that special ability actually do (spawns little green men with handsome axes)?

Hmm...Ironguts have attack strength of 12 and Dragon Ogre only +1?

You guys know the table-top stats and rules, are dragons stronger than Shaggoths in there too? Cos I think the Shaggoth should be the strongest unit in the mod, cos its so cool, and cos its so cool :D

And I can`t wait to see how my first slayer-shaggoth encouter will go! :)

I can't find the Shaggoth statline in a hurry, but it's supposed yo be only almost as strong as dragon.

I'm kinda out of the loop on Warhammer these days, but back in my day only Greater Daemons could compare to dragons.

Well, dragon ogres don't come in such abundance as ironguts. Plus, they have movement 2 and +2HP (compared to irongut's movement 1 and +1HP)

And shaggoths don't fly =ATAR-bonus (that's why they're a lot cheaper than dragons).

Also, dragon ogres should have no movement penalty on hills (and possibly on deserts), and shaggoths should have no movement penalty on hills (and possibly on deserts and mountains)

Well with more than 6500 posts you should type faster!
Well, it took me 4 years (4 years in ten days...) to get to that point...

@aaglo, the Treeman thing was that I added it to your excel sheet, that thinks it should be 12/9/2...

Dragon Ogres and Shaggoths also don't have the other flying abilities, like radar.
I think 5 is too low defense for the Dragon Ogre, that's as much as an ordinary Ogre, without armour, and the Dragon Ogre has scales...

The Storm Rage rule means that if a Shaggoth gets hit by a lightning attack he gets frenzied.

@LizardMenRule! - i disagree, the skaven are just as prone to disease as men. Clan Pestilens is both a blessing and a curse. ;)
Heh, silly idea (but I like it): put a plague unit (censer bearer or plague monk or something) at Pharmacy. :D That would also make the Skaven more prone to research it.

Okay

:D i like!

Will there be a Skaven only improvement like the Rune Forge that allows units to "paradrop"? Something like Tunnel, available with Under-Empire, that increases science by 50%?

Possibly, but that requires paradrop units, and there's still a bunch of skaven missing.
BTW, I played my first Mordheim game today; my skaven allied with some pirates and took out some reiklanders and Sisters of Sigmar. What to do with my 5 warpstone shards? :hmm:
:)

grind it into a fine powder and have some fun ;)

Do you think that it would be too unbalanced to have several Skaven units able to paradrop? like the nightrunner, gutterrunner and giant rat?

there was talk earlier in this thread about having a generic skaven paradrop animation that could be used for any skaven unit

I don't know about paradropping. It depends on what building allows it, and when that's available. And if those units are already obsolete at that time. And of course there's no Giant Rats available yet...
And of course if it's seen as unbalancing... Haven't made my mind up on that yet.
BTW, I though about the rat swarm, it could be made a 1/1/1 ATAR unit, available at Domestication.

Edit: Would this be something for the Skaven? Most of the grey, except the head, has civ colour.

Yes, it's a ToT Sci Fi unit. Someone could give it a weapon, I suppose, but I'm not interested in taking up c'n'p again. :) I could make everything except the tedious c'n'p job, though, if someone wants to do that. I e convert it, and fix the shadows and civ colour.
Hm, maybe (general) you could give it a throwing star, and make an assassin out of it? That shouldn't be too hard, just add stars to five directions...

I'm thinking about giving the skaven (goblin) brown civ colour instead of grey, as almost all units already are grey. They'd still be the most drab civ in Sigmardom, but they'd have two colours, at least.

Thinking more about the Skaven starting techs. They should have Chaos and Under-Empire and possible Meteoric Iron, NOT Woodworking (because they live underground they should not be able to learn Deforestation)

If Rat Swarm is gonna be at Domestication, i dunno if they should start with that. or do you think starting with Meteroic Iron is enough of a bonus?

I think that the ToT-unit looks great as it is :)
What if it was some sort of rat spawn or something?

I like the idea for the skaven not being able to level forests. LMR!'s ideas are good for the starting techs IMO.
