You are soooo right. People should stop thinking of units as 'rather cool' and start thinking about them as anything up to 30 hours work ... each.

.....Or more, especially if you use models with well over 20,000 polygons and 12-20 frames of animation. When I make a unit in Bryce, it generally takes about a week to build the model, then it takes about 2-3 hours to make each complex animation (attacks, death and run), but it can take up to 4 hours to completely render each animation. From my experience, the render time only goes up if you use Poser, but since almost all the poser models are just kits that you assemble from pre-existing parts, it kind of balances out.

Frankly I don't see how Aaglo cranks the units out as fast as he does. :crazyeye:

Don't under-estimate the power of the Pov-Ray. It's a strong and fast t... renderer (I almost used the word tool  ;) )

I have began to theorize that you Aaglo, have discovered a way to beam units directly from your mind into the computer...
Me too ... and that's partly because I've tried Pov-ray for myself. Everything, absolutely everything has to be done via text - shapes, sizes, colours, positions - and there is no preview window so you don't know what's happening untill you render!

It makes me wonder if Aaglo is really some white-robed chap with a white beard sitting on a white cloud somewhere in the sky :)

"And Aaglo said 'Let there be units' and units appeared and Aaglo saw that the units were good ..." :worship:

Lol.....

If Pov-ray is that difficult Muffins...than how by all that is holy does Aaglo crank them out so fast? Maybe he has gone where no man has gone before..(Now I'll have the image of Spock doing a mind-meld to his monitor stuck in my head for the rest of the night...)

but.... but.... I don't have white beard. And I don't have any beaming from my mind going on here. But one question: could you take me to your leader? :scan:

BTW, nice cannon/flak there

no... I've posted a lot of my units in pov-ray format - everyone can (well, sort of  ) see the simplicity of the descriptive geometry and trigonometrics ;) :p . And AFAIK, nobody has yet seen those files, and died [crosses fingers whilst typing - ouch] :)
