What Are You Listening To (Classical Version)?

I must just respectfully disagree. I also have a high opinion about the Karajan's versions I have heard, but I still ever so slightly prefer Wand.
For me, Karajan was really great in the late Romantic repertoire, as the two tone poems by Richard Strauss below.

To each their own. I find that particular performance of Wand's to be just a little on the slow side for my liking. That tends to be the case with Wand... he really is masterful, but just a little too restrained sometimes.

Sibelius' sublime 3rd symphony, which, along with the 7th, are my favourite works of his.

One of my favorite songs starts at 17:50. It just feels very happy and would make for a good dance song. (Provided I can remember French medieval dances!)

My my, did I hear a little Solage in that? Fascinating if I did, he's not at all well known and has a tiny repertoire, though he is a fascinating outlier in terms of music history.

While it is a fantastic performance, I never was fond of Lizsts piano concertos... My preferred work had always been the Hungarian Rhapsody no. 6 and one other, though the numbering system between piano and orchastral versions is a nightmare to wade through...

Leevi Madetoja's highly interesting symphony no. 3... the 3rd movement is so unique.

I saw his obituary in the paper today. It said his baton was sent into space. He said something along the lines of I'm fine with my baton going into space as long as I don't have to.
