Wonders take a lot of time and effort to make so it's very important to pick the right ones; the ones that give the most "bang for the buck". Besides the Great Library (leave that one out as a special case), which wonders do you think give the most benefit, and in what order?

Leonardo's is the one I ALWAYS have to get. Sun Tzu's is good also, but barracks aren't hard to build to I make Leonardo's a higher priority.
Theory of Evolution and Hoover Dam are the must-haves in the Industrial Age. Other than that, nothing really stands out. Perhaps Sistine or Bach's if I'm Religious, but still not absolutely essential.

Add to that Suffrage if I don't plan on going commie.

Also, the UN is a must.

If diplo victory is an option and I usually play with it on , the UN.
If I play on archipelago maps, the Great Lighthouse.
The Pyramids are great, but virtually impossible to get on higher levels, at least for somebody with my humble skills.
And the Statue of Zeus is great indeed.

btw, does Sun Tzu's produce an effect of barracks in all cities( just like Hoover's dam produces effect of hydroplant in each city without the upkeep for those) or it actually puts one in each city?

Sun Tzu's works like Hoover's -- you get a free barracks with no upkeep in each city.

Which Wonders I go for depends a lot on whether I'm playing on an archipeligo, continents, or pangea. Sun Tzu's or the Pyramids aren't too useful on an archipeligo.

I play C3C, so if I'm playing warmonger and/or lacking resources, I'll go for Statue of Zeus and Knights Templar. I'll also tend to build Industrial and Modern Wonders, because by that point, I usually have plenty of shields to spare. But in the Ancient and Middle Ages, there's usually better ways to spend my shields. Maybe I'll go for Adam Smith, Leonardo's and/or the science wonders (Newton and Copernicus). But unless culture is an issue, better to let my neighbor build them and then take them from him.

On my Regent game I had to choose between Sun Tzu and Leornado, I chose the former. Then I realised how much I needed the workshop, since I'm now stuck with obsolete spearmen with not enough cash to upgrade them. :(

My nod goes to Leo's, and ToE. Half price upgrades are a godsend and ToE gives you a huge advantage with two free techs. Aside from those, the rest are just gravy.

Pyramids: Free granaries are nice...
Leo's: I'm a compulsive warmonger with a weak spot for the horseman upgrade path
ToE: Can be the game winner in a tight race in the Industrial age

I really like MoM in the capital. That gives you one city without happiness problems. And, it's so darn cheap, I consider it the only wonder before ToE worth the shields (plus SoZ, if you have Ivory, of course!) on DG/Deity.
KT is sometimes really useful. Glib and UN are 'special', I agree, and not really a free choice - either you must get them, or you do not need them at all.

ToE and Hoover's are my real favorites. Plus Smith's, but you can capture that one as well. Throw in MoM and SoZ, and you have all wonders I care about.

My personal favourite is the Colossus (yes, I know it sucks), but the funnest are the SoZ and the KT, and of course, ToE and the UN are at the top.

I never realized how powerful the Colossus could be until my first (ongoing) 20k game. The city with the colossus produces about 1/3 of the wealth in my empire. Even better, when I bump up the luxury slider by 1 notch, the city with the colossus gets about 3 happy faces while the other cities get only 1.

I think Hoover's and ToE have got to be mine. These are my 2 'gotta have' IA techs.

SoZ, Lighthouse can be essential on some maps, Leo's, Smith's, ToE, Hoover, Internet. Don't forget the Internet (er, except on an Archi map).

I don't think the Colossus sucks. When I have enough Settler-building citys, it's always an asset to build!

Some other favourites are KT, SoZ, ToE and Smith's Trading company.

if MoM is 7-12 turns, I'll get that, and on any non-pangea map, I'll be darned if anyone else gets TGL.

I usually play Pangea, though, so the pair of LW and Sun Tzu's is a good favorite!

Ancient - Great Lighthouse

Middle - LW

Industrial - TOE/HD combo (if you get TOE you get HD)

Modern - UN of course (wish Internet came sooner to be useful)

Sun Tzu's and Leonardo.

What you CAN build, and what you WANT to build are different. Usually I aim for Sun Tzu, Adam Smith, ToE and Hoover Dam because I can get them. Victory and/or boredom usually follows.
