What are your phobias?

I am insanly scared of ticks, fleas, and jellyfish. Why? i scared of fleas and ticks because they are little hard to kill bugs that can latch onto you, suck your blood and give you diseases. Im scared of jellyfish because my uncle was stung by a portuguese manowar and when i was out in the fjord in norway i was completly surrounded by jellys when i fell in the water...

so what are yours and why?

There's nothing I routinely encounter that I am really scared of, but there are some things I will pointedly avoid, and some I will always attempt to kill if they decide to come near me: daddy-long-legses and wasps. I get pretty wound up if a big spider runs over me unexpectedly, but I just remove them. I have a policy of killing slugs, as a gardener, but I'm not afraid of them - just disgusted. I know some people are terrified of bats, but I think they're really cute. I used to be terrified of heights, especially airoplanes, down escalators and glass lifts, until I forced myself to just ignore them (landing is cool). I guess most people have some residual fear of the dark from childhood ...

I'm afraid of bugs. Not so much big bugs, but small ones, when they are just everywhere and too many to count. But, yeah, also big bugs. Also predators like lions and bears, and also drowning. I can't swim but I like water, so you know I'm asking for trouble.

Locusts and those big green grasshoppers (how is it called in English?).

When I was a small kid, I accidentaly smashed some of these I'd played with. Now, when I get close to these bugs, I feel very uneasy.

I don't like the insect as a whole (who does? ), but these hopping creatures are the worst I know

same here, the reason is that i hate to wear accessories at all, not even watches. and i always got a feeling that the ring will be choking the blood or get caught into something and pull away...

By "big green grasshoppers" do you mean 'the praying mantis'?
If so then it is relatively easy to see why you are afraid of it, since it appears that you are adolescent (not that only adolescents can have such fears, but it is far more common for them to). The praying mantis is an interesting insect, mostly due to its sexual life, which at most times climaxes with each head being eatern up by the female of the species (metaphorically it could mean something existant in humans too, but in the mantis it happens literally ofcourse). Also another connection in the subconscious between grasshoppers and sex is obviously the fact that they jump around. One can note other connections between a part of the male body anatomy and the skin of the praying mantis (not real, but existant as possibility of making an unconscious connection; the world of the subconscious can pick up very subtle parallelisms).
Anyway all real phobias have a link to sexuality; mostly due to the meaning that metaphorical sayings of each language have, and of the connection between symbolic and non symbolic understanding of the world.
