Have you guys ever read the syntopicon? I might have spelled it wrong, but it's close to that. It sounded really interesting, but I have a feeling it's probably not.
If you're addressing me, no, I haven't read it nor have I heard of it. The Satyricon is worth reading if you want to read a satire about Roman life 2000 years ago. At least for some mild historical context. But don't read it if you're puritanical at heart, because if the events in The Satyricon happened today, everyone involved would be in prison for a variety of crimes, mostly sex related.

I finished The Satyricon and am now reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and To Timbuktu, written by some guy.

Sirens of Titan....

I was talking to anyone, I was hoping I wasn't the only one who hadn't heard of it.

Reading Fatelessness by Imre Kertesz

I'm partway through The Essential Poems and Tales of Edgar Allan Poe. Some are fairly redundant... he gets a tiny bit predictable after a while... but all in all, a good investment ($8 for ~600 pages).

I'm currently reading my wife's copy of Eats, Shoots, and Leaves. It was my Christmas gift to her; I felt it appropriate as she was an English major. She enjoyed it thoroughly, and thus far I also like it quite a bit. It gives me comfort to know that I consistently punctuate my sentences fairly well.

An awesome butchering of that book.

Sirens of Titan....
Great book. But then again, any Kurt Vonnegut novel is a great book.

I'm finishing off Patrick O'Brien's Aubrey/Maturin 20-book series for the third time. If you like historical fiction and would enjoy reading about the British Navy during the early 1800s, you will love this series.

I also recommend you buy this companion book to be able to fully understand all the terminology.

Yeah, wasn't the movie Masted and Command made on one of those books? The Yankees were only changed to French to make it popular in USA. They're on my mental "read when met"-list.

Finished Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar by Simon Sebag Montefiore, now going for The Rise and Fall of the Great Powers by Paul Kennedy.

What you thought about the Autumn of Middle Ages?

I've finished Just Seconds from the Ocean by William Sargent. It's about coastal life, how artificial and natural coastal systems repond to global sea level rise and storms and how the USA has overbuilt it coasts. It's a short by interesting read, highly recommended.

Yes, the movie "Master And Commander" is based on these books, but it's nowhere near as good even with a big box-office star. :P I also definitely recommend reading them in order. While it isn't a necessity, O'Brien builds on various plot lines as the books progress so you will be missing out on previous information in a lot of cases.

Never gotten 'round to it. Did read Le mur and another story, for French in high school.

I'm not reading it cover to cover. I would have if I didn't have the benefit of someone before me marking the book up underlining things.

I have to read the play W;t, by Margaret Edson. I'm not a big fan of plays, but hopefully this one's good.

BTW, it is W;t, not a typo.
