Was just wondering. I hope i havnt posted this here b4 i know i posted it somwhere but I think it was somwhere else.
I have just started playing on Deity and am finding that it is REALLY hard to keep up with them. (probably coz they cheat) I was wondering if there was anyone else here playing on deity that has any tips they could offer?
or if there is anyone here i could help out i would be happy 2

ROFL @ me being a newbi poster heheheheh
no i just didnt think of it at the time.
I have been posting here since mid last yr lol
I also post at manyother forums and have my own UBB as well

I have been playing since day after release so whats that now 5 months or somthing but i have noticed that the AI has to cheat at higher levels. i was playing a game as USA and sent of in search for other civs. I had built 1 worrior and was working on another when i meet the first civ who already had 1 archer 2 worriors and 3 cities.

the higher the difficulty level the more annoying the AI becomes.
therefore, play on the lower levels and be happy ;)

chieftain level rulez !

I worked my way up..now I am working my way down again

I dont care about winning ...I just like to move the bits around :crazyeye:

I also play chieftain alot cauz i then have ultimate power! I crush all those who look stupid. Wuahahaha. But if you want a challenge go up a sum.

Up 'til GOTM5 I'd been playing on Regent.
GOTM5 is Monarch, and, despite the terrible start location, I am actually competing with the A.I.

In future, I'll stay at Monarch.
In any case, I don't believe it's significantly harder than Regent ... the A.I. has a 0.9 build/science bonus and gets one free ancient unit ... the third citizen is born unhappy (same as Regent) ... so all in all, they're pretty similar.

I guess Monarch -> Emperor is a pretty large jump though.

apart from GOTM 5 on monarch. It was my first game above warlord. Big mistake. :crazyeye:

Hey I play on Warlord and Cheiftain mostly as well.

I usually play on Monarch level, any lower and the puter is to stupid.
I wouldn't judge the difficulty level based on the game of the month.Every game I have played there always forces you into an aggressive stance, they are designed that way. I know I am not alone in stating that I much prefer Empire building than Slice and Dicing. And besides modern warfare with Navies and Modern Armour(love that Ka-Ching sound) is much more fun.

According to the rules file, Regent is the most balanced. If you think the step to Monarch is too tough, adjust it to only give some advantages and then play, then try Monarch regularly. I'm currently trying to make that transition from Regent to Monarch myself

I'm in the same situation as you are. I can beat regent with some challenge but monarch is too much. The AI gets a huge advantage, and so i helped myself by uninstalling v.1.17.

I really enjoy Monarch level. I find that I can dominate it most of the time. I found playing Emperor for GOTM 4 was a great challenge, but I haven't played an Emperor game since.

I like Regent, myself. I'm not a big warmonger, and playing any higher level forces you to mong war. Regent is about the highest difficulty level I can use my preferred style of play with.

I also play at Monarch. At monarch, the A.I. is challenging, but reasonable. At emperor, the A.I. gets those stupid advantages that make you want to stop playing, like they have gunpowder when you're learning writing or they attack your musketmen with spearmen and routinely win. That's not fun, it's just frustrating. So monarch is the ideal.

Monarch, Monarch, Monarch, with some Emperor strewn in. But those are always with little land so the shameless AI land grab is checked.

Also I have to admit that I`m still using 1.16, hehehe.

Occasionally, I go for a deity game. Those always are UU-conquests with strong ancient age Civs like the Persians or Romans.

Fully agree to that. And you need to play ungame-like and time consuming strategies like pop-rushing and micromanagement etc. On Monarch I have a hell of a good time playing, with 95% of micromanagement doen by the comp.
