What do you need to do to get started?

Hi,

I'm new to this site, but have played a couple of PBEM diplomacy games before. What would I need to do before I can hope to join in one here?

I read the one thread trhat said something about a download and ".dpy" files. Could I get more information on this?

Further, I understand that there will probably be various protocols used. Where can I find this infromation?

Welcome, Gnarfflinger.

'dpy' files are realpolitik files which make a GM's job quite easy. You can find the download here at http://realpolitik.sourceforge.net

As for protocols, that is essentially whatever the players and GM agree to use. I prefer one week intervals, with retreats and builds in 24 hour periods. The timeframes can be shortened up after mid-game when there are fewer players left and alliances are generally more clearly drawn.

Hmmm, hold that thought. We may need an England in our current game (Still in Winter 1900). I will be able to tell you one way or the other in 24 hours.
