The title says it all. And I'm SORRY if this has been debated over and over, but I'm so fed up with waiting for news these days that I want to hear what you all think! Pleease let it be an expansion and not some lame DLC for $8 a piece!

I (still) expect a pack of 2 DLCs (including a couple of new Civs and 2 scenarios) + 1 patch, somewhere before Christmas which would be fine because usually I take some days off work between Christmas and New Year.
I don't think Civ5 will ever receive a huge expansion but small DLCs every few months instead.

Well; we're well past the date that they would announce something like a big expansion for this Christmas and usually the expansions have been timed to be released during the Christmas shopping season.
An expansion should add espionage at least in some form. I would say religion too, but at least spies in some form. I would like to see some new civs, units, wonders, buildings, a true expansion we're all used to getting. We need an expansion to upgrade from CiV vanilla its been over a year, it is certainly time for the game to evolve. I have heard rumblings of an expansion pack in the summer 2012, so it could be just patch, dlc in the near future.
This is a question for everyone. What should the expansion be called? The last time it was CiIV Warlords. How about CiV: The Will of the Brave, or Trial of the Strong, something along those lines.

Ok, i would like to see some form of spying...it is surely missing. More techs and wonders, and Civ's. but what i really really want is......stats!!!! I want my stats back, especially in game stats! and, of course a movie or something to go with each victory.

Agreed. There are so many great things, large and small, that they could do to make CiV so much better, still... would be a shame if they don't make an xpac to accomplish this. It may seem like such a simple and silly thing, but the fact is, the most important thing they could do to vastly, and i mean VASTLY in capital letters- to improve my CiV gaming experience... would be to just make it so we can choose and save our own defaults in the standard and advanced game setup menus. Such a simple thing. I mean really- is it rocket science to toss in a 'Save As Defaults' button at the bottom of the screen? Not like they have to reinvent the wheel, there. Boggles the mind that they haven't done that yet. <sigh>
okay, I've lived with one thing I want patched now that I am tired of it. The AI can take my worker and disband/kill it that very instant whereas if I capture one I have to wait till the next turn. I can't stand it anymore!!!

I'd like to see somthing brand new to the series, maybe something cheesy like random trivia questions for a small chunk of culture or food. Something from a previous game that I do want back is the reason I tend to stray away from a modern/future war, no nuke defenses, being implemented. You guys are right, there are so many things that would make the game more enjoyable then it already is with some little effort.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if some mechanic for bonus resources, trade and/or creating new resources through buildings is introduced. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if said things were left as is.

Improved trade routes, where you actually have to "transport" the goods across the map. I just imagine having caravans running across the screen being raided by other civs and barbs. I think that'd give a new different dynamic to the game.

Honestly I think religion can be worked into social policies. First to adopt the tree founds the religion, which then spreads from there. Once founded, you can convert to any religion you have contact with someone else of that religion, but that doesn't guarantee that religion spreads to your cities. (Did look into doing that as a mod, but way too much work)

Many other points need to be revamped, but these 3 points are crucial. What is important is to let the player to not abuse the AI(or at least less possible).

Revolutions, rebellions, civil wars. Partially random, depending on happiness and empire size. Yes, I know, a seemingly perfect game could be ruined by the division of your empire, but hey, no more Darius-ruling-half-the-world any more. That would also make the domination vic harder, and it will make Autocracy worth the while (we can add 'less likelihood of revolt/civil war' effect to the opener or something).
Religion in a reworked, non-social policy-like way and espionage would be nice, too. With revolts and civil wars, that would be awesome!

The Civ IV expansions were very war/espionage focused, so a Civ V one might well be. They were even called "Warlords" and, a particularly stupid name, "Beyond the Sword".
I'd like more meaningful diplomatic options, rather than just research agreements and border agreements. One thing I've wondered about recently is arms dealing - you can gift units to city-states, but although the arms trade between nations has a long history, it's never been an option in any incarnation of Civ. As I've mentioned in the past, I'd like tech trading back - research agreements should be an industrial- or modern-era development and, I think, should be handled somewhat differently, so that a specific research topic of interest to both civs involved is selected as the basis of the agreement, resultiing in both completing it sooner.

EDIT: Also strongly agree on bringing back international trade - which also opens the door to further diplomatic options such as embargoes on goods from Civ X, or other trade sanctions. Diplomacy in Civ generally is, I think, too simplistic, and always has been for a game that relies heavily on it - you do bad things, the game gives you minuses to relations that ultimately have only one outcome - WAR. I think Civs should have more options for expressing and dealing with bad relations than just refusing deals and eventually declaring war on you, although granted this adds a layer of complexity that can't be justified until the AI is improved to the point where it can make sensible decisions based on the existing diplomacy system. But really, this shouldn't be an issue - Civ has had basically the same AI diplomacy system since 1990, surely even poorly-programmed modern AIs should be able to handle these options.
What needs changing about the current one? Personally I think this is one of the major improvements in Civ V - no more "okay, I spam the map so I win" diplomatic victories that require no diplomacy, and it works with Civ V's more general efforts to broaden the variety of strategies that can be pursued. In earlier Civs, you always played the same way regardless of win condition - more cities = more science, so you can progress to a science victory, and research higher-tech units more quickly to assist with domination. More cities = more unit production, so you can progress to a domination victory. More cities = more population, so you can progress to a diplomatic victory. More cities = more science = quicker wonders and culture buildings, so you can up your three culture cities to win a culture victory.
