May i suggest then using the Planet Generator, you can make the map YOU want then.

Sorry, where's that? I admit I haven't really looked at the other map types, usually just pick either lakes or archipelago. Been meaning to give fractals a go though. I suspect I'm looking for something like 4+ continents each with 2-3 civs on them - the lake-type maps don't have enough water for my tastes, while archipelago has too much.

The farest I reached was the early modern era an a GEM. It was V27 or 28 I think and I stoped it, because the AI was to dumb. I had North and South America, and I conquerod the Asia, Africa and Europe and gave it all to India (which was the biggest civ already) but they couldn't catch up, even if they had 3times my cities. In fact, they switched back to despotism I think, so all of their cities were flooded with :(

I have gotten to Galactic Era before, but it was before Mr.Azure's additional Trans-Human techs. In my Global Warming game I got to almost Industrial before saves just would not load anymore. And in my current game I just reached Renaissance. My goal in that game is to get to the later eras so I can see balance issues. I have a smaller map (Standard) and viewports so I can make sure I get there. However its still on snail speed to test balance for that speed. But it just takes a while to get there. I think I started that game just before v28 was released.

Like you, I started my current game just before v28 came out, and I'm currently up to the Renaissance. However, I'm on a Large map, and on Normal speed. :D Oh and v27 vanilla as I don't have SVN on my new machine yet. SVNing in the middle of a game makes me feel like I'm learning a new game every time, so I've been holding off on it. I also possibly have phobias of the new, the unknown, change, doing things for the first time...and technology!

I can't wait for it to finish (in about a years' time probably) so I can get the latest...:crazyeye:

I am currently at late medival in my game, but I once reached Industrial, nearing modern.. but that game was on Chieftain, so I had near absolute controll over my continent ( there were a few not yet swalloed vasalls left) and a solid presence on the other one, with a navy and airforce that could bomb the enemies 18th century units with easy if need be, so I aborted that game, seemed pointles. To be fair, this was several AI improvements ago, especially AI handlign of revolutions. basicly all serious competitors split into several easy to swallow mini civs in late classic era.

In my current game I have 28 cities, and the top 4 AIs after me have between 22 and 29 cities, so that part of the game is much less of a problem now, which is great. :goodjob:

The furthest (in Era) I've gotten was the first game I played. It was on the GEM 9-preset map using version 21.7 on Marathon. I was near the end of the Modern era, researching Space Tourism in January of 1858! Noble difficulty. Yes, I still have the save game.

Since then I've mostly been playing shorter games, experimenting with various things from prehistoric to classical. Trying out different game options, maps, etc. The current game I'm playing is on a Small map at Quick game speed. Yes, it's very broken. I usually get two or three Techs per turn, and each city builds several things per turn. The year is currently -35876 and I'm in the Renaissance era. I'm going to try to advance as far as I can through the tech tree in this game, so I chose Quick to use fewer turns to do so. I'll see if it works.

i usually run on Epic or similar speed one game tough i had Normal speed and managed to get to the Modern Era was SVN between 27 and 28 though beside seeing all those wonders you guys programmed there was little to it as it was a normal map and the only nation not yet under my boot was just getting to the Medieval Era

but most games reach Medieval Era

One tech into Medieval, having researched only a couple of Classical era techs. I bore easily. If I play on a difficulty level where the game is challenging, the AI's enormous doomstacks bog the game down, if I don't, well, then it's not really that much fun to play. Though in v29 the AI seems to be doing a pretty decent job keeping up and snatching wonders on Emperor level... I've been enjoying my latest game (currently maybe one tech into Classical, mostly going through the Ancient), and will probably be going forward with it a little bit further.

Weeell, it's not really a recent game. I think it was v23. Biggest map that existed back then, snail speed, difficulty emperor (before I discovered the increasing difficulty.. or maybe it did not even exist yet?)

Anyway, I had researched ALL techs, including Future Tech. I won a spaceship victory, but frankly, just because I could not be arsed to conquer every single city in the world.

My nanite clouds DID smash through about 100 persian cities though... plus some other assorted civilizations... You know, strength 360 and all.
I think my civ had more than 200 cities....
