As the title says, what are your hopes for the remaining paid & free updates for this season of the New Frontier Pass? It can be anything at all, even if you don't think its very likely.....this is just a spit-balling exercise.

That said, I am going to try to keep my own hopes reasonably grounded.

For starters, fixing the bugs and glitches is a very high priority-and getting the AI to better exploit the new game modes/features is a must. For me, this definitely includes getting the AI to exploit Terra Maps better.

Beyond that, I'd actually like to see them build on the modes they have already added-like expanding the Monopolies/Industries/Corporations mechanics to encompass Bonus and Strategic Resources, and further fleshing out Heroes & Secret Societies. Though maybe that's more something to hope for in Civ 7.

For entirely new stuff, I'd love to see a shake up of City-State Relationships. Outside of Suzerain status, there needs to be a greater range of "starting attitudes" for City States. Ranging from Hostile to Friendly. Hostile City-States should be as much of a threat-to both other City-States & Major Civs-as Barbarians currently are, & require outright conquest, or extra envoy investment just to become neutral with them. Friendly City-States would actually be easier to win over from the start. Bringing back some Civ5 features-like Pledging Protection, Bullying, Warring/Bullying City-State rivals, Timed Quests, Unit Gifting, Election Rigging & Coups would also be great to see....but again may be beyond the scope of these updates.

A more reasonable hope would be to flesh out Great Artists & Great Musicians-allowing us to gain District Improvements and Social Policies specific to these Great People much earlier in the game

Last of all, I'd love for an update to make further improvements to Religion and the Religious Victory-concepts like State & Non-State Religion, & the difficulties of maintaining peace between different religions in a single city, should be addressed to some extent within the game. Maybe also bring in the idea of Religious Schisms, just to shake things up.

Anyway, those are my hopes, I'd love to hear yours. BTW, if this is posted in the wrong place, then my apologies & feel free to move it.

better a.i., what else?

In an ideal world, my hopes would be another art pass (virtually all of NFP could use a facelift) and better integration of the existing systems (including Tourism). Realistically, I'm not expecting much more than bug fixes/balance adjustments.

I wouldn't mind to see an intermediate stage in your relations with a City State. Something like "protectorate" or "vassal" where you have almost complete control of them, but they still retain their own build queues and relations with other AIs. It would be the last stage before they ask to join your civilization as a city. AIs who declare war on them automatically declare war on you at the same time.
1 envoy - 2 envoys - ... - suzerain - vassal - new city in my empire.

I'd like to see some integration of the Aerodrome district into the trade network by increasing trader range with each successive building.

A "leave my friends alone" or "pick on someone your own size" diplomacy option to stop opposition AI from attacking city-states that you have an interest in, not necessarily suzerain, but you've got a few envoys there to get the +3 bonuses.

Just in relation to my first suggestion above, this upcoming patch (Feb 2021 for you time travellers) might scratch that itch - sorta.

I'd love for Great Prophets to be able to do something besides just founding a religion but maybe that's wishful thinking.

Aerodrome District getting another building for tourism such as International Terminal or just rework the airport building.

More mutually exclusive buildings:
Caravanserai (instead of Market)- 2 extra trade route capacity.
Biological Research Lab (Science from Geothermal Fissures, Reefs and Rainforest tiles in city), Chemical Research Lab (Science from mineable resources in city), or Physics Research Lab (Science based on power in city)
Opera House (instead of Broadcast Center)- Two slots for music and one slot for writing (Broadcast Center will keep one slot for music but also gain tourism from rock band performances)
More neighborhood building options (Public School, Hospital, Cinema, Police Station etc.)
Cargo Port (trade focused/slots for Products) or Naval Base (military based/train fleets and armadas and more exp points for naval units.) as a choice instead of Seaport.
Circus (instead of Zoo) +1 Amenity and bonus spreads to each city center within 6 tiles. +1 culture for each pasture and camp tile in the city.

I would also like it if each of your citizens being assigned an ethnicity, and having cities being ethnically diverse could be a welcome addition. It could also combine cultural and domination gameplay.
For example if you conquer some cities of a civilization, early on in the game, late game your citizens might be more susceptible to visit their homeland civ as international tourists.

I'll also throw out Pandemic and Prehistoric Era/Nomadic Start even though they probably won't happen. :p

While it might be wishful thinking, I want them to make naval combat both more necessary and more fun.
to make it more necessary give port cities more importance - maybe they offer a few cards that offer benefits to cities directly on the cost (like cards that gives cities on coast gain +4 housing or +20% production) or reduce the loyalty impact (but offer a new bonus to phonecia). Perhaps revert to the old civ method of transporting units - where they had to go on a boat (maybe limit this to ocean).
A basic way to make naval combat more fun is to add “currents” to the water, where moving with currents would only take half a movement, but moving against the current would be like moving in rough terrain and take 2-3X movement.
Some of this might be too ambitious for civ 6, but the extra bonuses and loyalty is beyond doable

Just thinking a bit more about it. I like the way at the moment you have to choose which building you want to place within the Government Plaza. This gives you a little bit more nuance as you progress through each tier of buildings. If something like that was made available for some other districts, not necessarily for all tiers, I think that would be a great way to tweak your civilization just how you like it.
For example, you might choose between a University and a Technical College in the Campus. The University would give the regular +4 science, but the Technical College might give 3 science and 1 food instead. As it would only affect one district, you could tailor your infrastructure to match the terrain a bit more.

unfortunately if we dont get another season this will be the only thing we get. I just hope it will include some more quality of life improvements as well. i am fond of what the community had already provided with better reports , trade screens , trade routes etc. and of course still bigger and more maps that dont crash as well . a huge africa map for example could be fun to play.

The only thing this game needs, is an AI fully focusing on winning the game. I mean, I've only lost 1 game since I bought this game (release day) because I decided to do a OCC in the middle of a desert.

And corporations mode is desperately needing a hotfix.

I'm hoping (against hope) for a balance pass on all the new modes they've introduced in NFP, but I reckon we'll have to leave that to modders.

My principal wish is improving naval combat too!

I also would like a game mode that add zombies, aliens and plagues (with models from Red death).
But to be honest, Corporations and monopolies was my must have and I very happy with the one they have made now so... whatever they add next it's fine for me :P

A OCC (Only Capitals Challenge). Kinda One City, but you can take over capitals and city states. This mode should be:

- Nobody can build new cities.
- Extend working range of cities to 5 at least (it was possible in Civ V with dll editing, so the framework should be there).
- Settlers create "settlements", that work like Vampire castles (they extract the surrounding yields) and add borders (like the strategic forts mode).

It should definitely be easy to implement to them, as all the pieces are already ingame.

I want an overhaul of Religion. Realistically if they added a 'Reformations' bolt-on mode it wouldn't have everything I wanted but it might be a start.

JNR's District Rework mods do something like this. Check them out on Steam.

I lost a few games on diety around launch by cultural victory (which has become way harder to lose to since expansions), and once or twice I surprise lost a religious victory becuase I wasn't paying attention, but that's about it.

Religion needs such a thorough ground-up overhaul that I'm not expecting anything really satisfying until Civ7.
