Do anyone know why no american civs where included in PTW? There is 9 european civs but only 3 american, i see there is something wrong with this picture but why?

Hey I guess was could have included the "backstreet boys" as a Civ.

Or how about the 29th street neighborhood, they could have mad a good Civ, their UU could have been a salvation army bell ringer.

(sorry for the sarcasm, I couldn't resist) :D

As mentioned, there's the Inca's and Mayans. Also there were many nations of Native North Americans that are distinct from the Iroquois.... plus the Inuit.

We're missing more than American Civs though.... What about africa? We could do with a bunch more african civs. Nubians, etc... Elsewhere in the world the polynesians would be welcome.

Basically, any civilization that has been historically ignored or degraded by western scholars didn't make the cut. No surprise.

Canada isn't a civ

And this coming from a Canadian :crazyeye:

edit:
Seriously... You earlier post is right on the money. There are many ancient civs that have been looked over for one reason or another. But in defense of firaxis. If they tried to put every diserving vic into the game, they would never get it out. And what would we have to complain about ;) Plus the game would probably still be indevelopment, not ptw, the game itself.

... american civilizations (when i saw the word "american" used to refer "the new world", it wasn't possible for me not to remember a very old thread: "America: a continent or a country?")

Apart from mayans and incas... A very widespread around the Antillas were the caribbeans. Arawaks in amazon basin... really feared by the incas and its subdued provinces. Charruas in River Plate. Apache in the far US west and don't forget the mighty Powahttan for them were the greatest empire in the atlantic coast.

Keep civilized

David

Canada (if you want to play canada... play the english)= Expansionists, Commercial
Leader: Pierre Trudeau
UU: Suicidemen (replaces Marine) Attack(14) Defense (5) move(1) Cost (100)

Inuit = Religous, Expansionists
UU: ???
Leader: ???

Hate to be so crude, but the truth is they weren't very influential in the world. They only included the Iroquios so that they could have some American civilizations. I believe that if you took any European or Asian civilization they would be more influential to the world than any of the American civilizations (minus America).

Well if we say that canada isn't a civ then i guess the French or the British or Spanish are not civs since they began as Roman or Moor civs.

You could argue about the Inca's.

But what about the Dutch? This may be a small country, but they discoverd a geat deal of the world and were the first Western civ to trade with Japan. And they traded New York for Surinam....:crazyeye:

We were forced to by the ******* English ;)

Also, Holland had quite a part of what's now Indonesia as a colony, and was the largest seafaring nation in the world in the 16th/17th century.

I think there are enough American civs as it is. :p Could even do away with the Iroquios...

But I think Europe could do with even more civs - Holland and Poland at least or even Portugal. Because any one of these countries had far greater influence than the Iroquios or the Zulu for example.

Ever heard of, for instance: Democracy, Women's Rights, the Three Sisters method, the Seven Generations principle?

Four inventions by the Iroquois that had an enormous impact on the entire world. In addition, the Iroquois were that reason that Americans speak English instead of French, and that there is an America in the first place.

From other Amerind civs, we learned eg advanced irrigation technics, hydroponics, and the use of obsidian.

From Amerind civs in general, the world received ao Ecology, huge knowledge of Herbal Medicine, many cultivated crops, and guerilla fighting.

Now tell me what Pakistan or Mianmar taught the world.

What happened to the African Civs (Mali, Axum, Ghana, Songhay, Sahel, et cetera)?

Where the dell are they? Seems to me that they're adding civs overlapping the previous civs,
just to get more €€€bigbucks€€€.

What are the _major_ ethnic and cultural differences between the Germans, French, English
and Spanish? Huh?

is it just me or should there be more south american civs? iv never played ptw, but it seems like all the civs are in the north, giving the aztecs the full run of the south and mexico......

I think the reason there are the most European/Mediterrian civs is because that was the 'center' of the world for so long. Most of the European/Mediterrian civs in the game had a major impact on history. Not to be biased, but the same cannot be said of the Incans and the Mayans. I still think they should be in there, but Firaxis probably picked their top 8 out of 12 or 15.
