What hardware is required to play LAN games?

My brother and I have 2 computer in the same room. What do we need to do to connect the 2 computers together to play a simultaneous LAN game?

You'll need ethernet adapters in both computers if they aren't already equipped. Then connect them with either a crossover ethernet cable, or a cheap ethernet hub and two straight ethernet cables.
