I keep getting backdoor/subseven attacks every few seconds from something called hitbox.com as soon as I log on with my user name. I can be here lurking for a long time while not logged in and I wont even get one. Does anyone know what this could be? My Norton Internet Security prevents access, but I was curious if Im being personally targetted or if this happens to other people.

Clear your cookies,
Get Ad-Aware from Lavasoft (it's free)

Then clean your system...

I believe it has something to do with the site's counter. I know at the very bottom of every forum page, there's a ad for amazon.com, as well as another (usually Play Casino) that links to hitbox.com.

And, apparently, my firewall just blocked at attempt by hitbox to access my system.

Whatever it is, its pretty annoying. So far this morning it hasnt happened. I posted here instead of in the computer forum because it only seems to happen when I log in with the user name. Same with you Octavian?

@Curtsibling: I have Spybot and Spywareblaster installed. Ive heard of Adaware, I'll check it out eventually. I dont think it has anything to do with cookies, anyway I delete them regularly.

Well if you need the link, it's lavasoftusa.com

Thanks hbdragon, I just installed it. It found stuff that spybot and blaster had missed. About hitbox.com, duh, of course, its the sites hit counter isnt it? But is it trying to install cookies or something and thats why the firewall sees it as a threat? Why would hitbox only be doing this when youre on your user name? Can a mod shed some light on this? Im sure Im not the only member here thats behind a firewall and keeps getting alerts. Is hitbox just a harmless hit counter or is it something more malicous from some third party?

The thing with Adaware is that it does seem to find cookies that it always wants to delete... So it always has a fresh supply of files to delete.

Well, the number of apparent trojan attacks from hitbox has been falling, but now Im getting more from "valueclick" and "qksrv.net". Im assuming that this is an attempt to access my cookies and nothing more, but who knows? If it wasnt for Norton Internet Security, I wouldnt even be aware that this was going on.

Looks like you set your computer's security level too high... Try lowering it to Medium... That should make it more functional.

There is no need to worry about qksrv.net, valueclick, or hitbox. They only use cookies and don't gather your personal info.

BTW, Hitbox is the free service that tracks the site's stats (ex. visitor info, page views, etc).

I did a explorer up-date 3 day ago, my security is medium but now explorer block some cookie from CFC, so i guess some of those cookie are indeed spyware. Before the update, it allow them to download and i had lag problem while playing a shooter.

So i suggest to run Ad-aware to clean spyware and update explorer. For me it solve the problem.
