What is the Best AI you have encountered

Ahhhh battlefield 1942....awesome multiplayer....hilarious single player!

I loved playing the Omaha beach landings on single player. Your allied buddies would painfully (literally, they were quite happy to launch suicide charges) makes there way to the fortifications, they sit there happily. No amount of pleading, ordering, even shooting at them would make them want to run for that final point.

I think writing a good AI is a tough job for a good game and I think there is big difference between writting a good AI for a game like chess or CIV. I was able to beat all game, CIV, MoO... in the hard level, if I had enough chance to be an avarage situation. Finally you should try online game if you are looking for a real chalenge. I remeber that I used to beat computer very easily when I was playing AoE II when I was playing 2 V 4. I used to build three layered walls to protect myself and kill 1000 units in each round. I thought I was a master so I treid it online and I found some RI which really kick hard. In the same time I used to play WC II with my freiends and I could easily beat them, but what I found in the net was different thing. It was like I was playing against a super-computer.

I have to say that among good chess engine the Frits obviously is the best. I have nver seen any preson in my real life to be able to beat a chess engine.

I hate the games where the painfully inadept AI can somehow manage a headshot witha pistol fro 2 miles away, or shoot down a fighter plane with A DAMN TANK!

I personally thing Half Life 2's AI is amazing even on Easy settings. They'll actually duck behind objects and take potshots from there.

I've shot down an A10 (flew by a player) with a T72 sabot. Luckily it's loadout contained LGBs instead of Hellfires, & the pilot was low flying to avoid AA (if he was smart he would of climbed to about 1500 meters out of shilka radar). I'd love to see AI do something like that. They shoot at aircraft with their MG, but never with their main gun.

Playing through Half-Life 2 again now. It's pretty good stuff, especially when the soldiers are flushing you out with grenades and the only way to run is into the ambush they set up round the corner.
