What is the best type of sword to raise for conquest?

It depends on the suit... if you're on a Japanese armour (because your looks matter too) you should go with a katana, but if you're on a European metal-plated armour, you'd be better with a broadsword. And if you're casually dressed like an anime character, an absurd BFS (either because of its length or general size) is cool enough.

I think a lot of American teenagers go through a Japanese fanboy stage where everything from that particular nation is awesome--anime, samurai, ninjas, etc. Fortunately, at least a few grow out of it.

It's kind of funny for me seeing this as an Asian, because, well, I'm Asian, so... overrating parts of Asian culture kind of doesn't work the same way (well, maybe as nationalism or pan-nationalism, but it's not the same thing as some random non-Asian kid having no real life exposure to Asian culture in any form or fashion liking [insert Japanese stuff]). I also grew up in a place where ~30-40% of the kids were Asian, so the whole social aspect of anime and Japan wasn't... well, it wasn't as "stigmatized" (for lack of better word) as it might have been elsewhere. (I assume it is easier for Asian kids - even if they're American-born - to get into anime, because, well, it's Asian.)

But anyhow getting off topic, despite it being a thing I'm very much interested in (maybe we should start a thread for another day). So katanas. Yes. Overrated, easily beaten by a good sword in the hands of a good swordsman from elsewhere.
