They indicate if you are a minor, emergent of regular leader

at some point (maybe already) the type of leader you are will (or does) effect you leader relations. Minor and emergent leader status can be dropped if you meet the right requirements (emergents have to gain a trait, minor have to gain four [or so] cities)

Like Swink said, they are for LeaderStatus. There are three types of leaders in RifE; Major, Minor, and Emergent.
  • Major is simply the standard leader.
  • Minor are (currently, will change) the same as Major, they just aren't the traditional leader for the civ.
  • Emergent are special; As you play the game they are able to gain a new trait or two. For a description of how to gain traits, check this post. Will put a concept section in the pedia next patch. Promise I won't forget this time. :lol:

The icons in the scoreboard are simply a visual representation of the Status; Meant to look like Military Ranks. 1 chevron is Emergent, 1 chevron+star is Minor, and 2 chevrons + star is Major. Also changes color, easily distinguishable. :goodjob:

Green = Emergent
Blue = Minor
Purple = Major

Edit: May as well mention this, as it's already elsewhere in the forums... Thanks to some work being done by Grey Fox, Emergent leaders will soon (Well, hopefully soon. The code is coming with Field Marshals, so he's got to finish that. ;)) no longer be gaining 'new' traits. Instead, that will go to Minor leaders... And Emergent leaders will get something more interesting. Even better, it's being done via DLL rather than Python for the most part. ;)
