OK, is it just me, or do the city governors love to just completely ignore _everything_ that they're told to build? If I say "never" build artillery, naval units, or any other units, especially near the beginning of a game, then I get triremes, catapults and warriors coming out of my ears. Is there any way to make the governors build what they're told? Am I missing some fundamental aspect of production?

And don't even get me started on corruption...

except for those two little things, this game rocks, by the way. Just passed my 5000-point mark on the Warlord difficulty. Built warrior like crazy and slaughtered five AI civs by 100AD.

If anyone has suggestions on how to minimize micro-management of city production, though, I'd love to hear it. Juggling 50-100 cities on the larger maps can get out of hand.

If youre jugling 50-100 cities not only should you not be playing on warlord you should know the keys to using governors. Christ thats allot. Youd have to dominate a huge map to have 100 cities and corruption would be more than your GNP for your average city.

Yeah - they piss me off too. Constantly switching my infantry to cavalry every time they complete a unit, and my coastal cities try to switch to ironsides after anything they build.

I've just relied on the Build Queue and not used the Governors.
I don't build colesseums so that is the last item in the Queue and when it asks if its ok the build colessuem I chage it and add another build queue to refect the current situation.
:king:

Yeah they love to make those useless galleys in your port city. Does the governor think you need a huge navy of hundred of those crappy little things or what? I mean they do die all the time..but that is why you get the Lighthouse.

The build queue is quite awesome..but doesn't anybody else think the interface should be better? I know all you gotta do is hit <shift> and then whatever you wanna build. There should be something more pronounced in the city screen.

I agree - The #1 suck feature of the game - the production governor. I wish you could shut the moron off.

I had the same stupid things happening to me.
I have 4 - 5 galleys sittle around IDLE, and it want to build galleys.

I am in the middle of a rough land war - solution per the governor - build battleships. Unless they come on wheels ...

The #1 thing I want out of first patch it for the governor to truly shut off for production.

What is weird - city moods and production emphasis work great.

Oden mentioned the Privateers. I have to ask what they were thinging when they gave it the same stats as a trireme? It is a great concept, but it is totally useless cause you get 50/50 with triremes and worse against anything else. That has got to be fixed in any patch.
