Okay, now i´m really pissed off!

I go to the folder where i have installed the game and when I try to open the
config-file it says its a shortcut and that the file is located in another folder. However the file does not exist anywhere on the computer. Same thing with the saved games folder and some other folders. Does any1 know what the hell is wrong?

I have already re-installed twice.

Save games, custom configs, config files, and all that stuff are located in your My Documents folder, under My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\.

Yes they are supposed to be there but does not exist. I have chosen to view hidden files and folders and i have searched through the computer but cant find it.

I cant run the game at all for some reason an error msg shows up.

Does anyone else have the same problem?

What is your Windows version?

So, when you go to Windows Explorer and browse to C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Games there is no Civilization folder showing there? Are you logged in as the same person that installed it?

Sounds very strange. Did it ever work?

strange indeed. I have the same problem on my new computer... I'm logged in as "Administrator" and still... bah.

This may not be an explanation, but I had the same problem, but I did notice that once I ran the game, all the files showed up.

StyxNCa, I presume that Civ4 creates all those files on the first start up. Nevertheless, it seems like modifying the original admin account in *any* way messes it all up.
