With the decoupling of civilizations and leaders, meaning it's no longer necessary for a civilization to be introduced alongside its leader, we can finally play as cultures that would have been difficult to include under the old Civilization model.

The Mississippians will be in Civ7, and the doors are now open for more lesser-documented and obscure civilizations to be introduced.

Which ones do you think could finally make their debut in the game?

There are some really obscure names here, while others are not so much. Please, mention in the comments if I've forgotten any option.

Define "lesser known".

I think most recognizable names should be added before the lesser known names, which often belong to Civs that are poorly attested.

Not sure if the poll offers the option, but an aboriginal tribe would be cool I guess.

Otherwise, cast a vote for the Swedes, Olmecs, Anasazi, Minoans, Etruscans and Nazca.

...Sweden is obscure? :p

Anyway, not on this list, I have wanted to see Elam in Civ for a very long time and still do. Another, currently an IP, would be Mixtec, and the Tlingit also probably belong on this list.

It was meant to refer to ancient tribes from Scandinavia. However, some people might end up getting confused.
Ah. Might call the Suiones to avoid confusion. :D

The Inuit I probably want in the game most of these, I'm reasonably hopeful we'll see the Nasca, Tiwanaku or Wari Empire in the game eventually as an ancient era south American civ. Teotihuacan I'd be keen to see also (partly in the hopes they'll give it the Maya icon and thus Maya a better one), but any other mesoamerican civ we haven't had before I'd be delighted with.
The rest of the world is outside my special interests, so otherwise any civ I haven't heard of before will make me happy :P

Agreed, I find American natives tend to be an interesting spot to explore. I suppose natives in general wherever possible are a good point for developers to be able to add cool unique gameplay to reflect tribal traditions and such.

When you say, "aboriginal," I assume they mean Aboriginal Australian? Because as you type it, it's a very generic term.

"Can be"? All of them. There's nothing stopping Firaxis from including any of them.

Will be? I don't know. For all the stupid, pointless, frothing arguments about markets and map coverage and "world historical importance," I'm not sure any good theory of how Firaxis chooses which civs to include has ever been formulated. I strongly suspect that's because there's no real rhyme or reason. The designers just go by a gut feeling mix of what seems cool and will sell enough to be worth it.

Some people are terribly unskilled in pedantry, holy hell.

I also have a great interest in Mesoamerica and the Andes. I think Nazca will eventually be included due to the Nazca Lines being pop culture, thanks to those crazy theories about aliens. However, it's hard to overlook Tiwanaku, as it was probably the most influential Andean civilization after the Incas. Personally, I'd prioritize Tiwanaku and Nazca, leaving the third spot for Moche. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll be that lucky.

Regarding Mesoamerica, I believe we'll see another civilization from antiquity, which I think will be either Teotihuacan, the Olmecs, or the Zapotecs, though I doubt more than one of them will make it. I don’t think they’ll include that many civs from the same region in the same era unless they want to extend this game for a lot of years.

Antiquity Marajoara with Teso dos Bichos as a wonder (would be basically a water Monks Mound, but ok), and unlocking a tupi-guarani civ in exploration.
I never imagined that Tesos dos Bichos could be the associated wonder of the Marajoara civ. It's a shame it's so obscure in nearly every other aspect.

I am not remotely an expert on South America or the Andes, but aren't the Moche the best known (in terms of their culture and society) due to their influence on the Chimu? Would there be enough information to put together all the unique accoutrements for the other two?

Although, speaking of the general use of, "aboriginal," a representation of Aboriginal Taiwanese, like Middag, might be nice.
