Win a few lost a lot. Been playing Rome. With all random settings. It really is where you start and who the AI has to play. About ready to drop back to Monarch or even Warlord at this time.

I played civilization II in those endless nights of 1990s, a part tore from my fresh young life. Any case, I like civilization best.

I play civ3 in Emperor level, even the first time ~~~
With my own wise, not other's experience. I get so much fun.
Very hard but still have light of hope,
Just like the man swam across the sea to meet his lover.

I'm playing cheifitan... although i started this game ~5 days ago, and its giving me a challenge. Mainly becuase I tend to either be: a) stuck on a tiny island b) surrounded and cannot expand to tech better or c) am 50 tiles away from a strategic resource. I've also gotten a barbarian uprising against me twice... I don't understand how 10 barbarians can take 300 gold out of one non-connected frontier colony when my tresury is comopsed of 600 gold.

Read some articles and stick around these boards. I got the game in June 2002 and joined in August 2002. I didn't win a regular chieftan game (without scenarios, cheating, or such) until just now, January 2003.

Mostly because of using Cyberman's trainer, using scenarios (such as player1mod's), and especially cheating - where I'd make sure to put coal and iron in a scenario to be able to build iron works

I'm currently between Regent and Monarch trying for an OCC victory. Up until GOTM 15, I had only played on Chieftain and Warlord, deciding not to puch myself too far. But, GOTM really made me learn some tough lessons and forced me to become a more active trader with the AI concerning techs.

After winning by SS on Monarch, I've decided not to go back to the 2 lowest levels and hone my craft on Regent/Monarch for a while. I'm not planning to attempt Emperor/Deity for some time, but that all depends on what level GOTM 16 ends up being.

preserve random seed=off. 'nuff said.

In December, I finally broke down and bought a copy of Civ3 (my first try at the Civ franchise).

After a week of getting my a$$ handed to me on Chieftan (can't play this game like Warcraft), I discovered this site and have managed to play my way up to Regent.

I got bored of warcraft iii after beating the campains and finding that my computer is unnaturally slow... there goes my $120.

GOTM16 is Emperor, but might be fun anyway Cracker has added:

1. fun graphics
2. hidden puzzle
3. easier civ, Rome
4. special barbs

It is available now. I am waiting to start until GOTM15 is posted. If you submit your GOTM16 save from 1000BC, your opening plays will be compared with those playing QSC. The timelines will help. Go look at the timelines for QSC for GOTM14 and you will see what I mean.

I haven't played Emperor before yet, but plan to take a shot at this one.

I play on regent. Its the funnest and its a challenge, but ont to much so.
Right now I'm playing as the persians on a standard map and have just killed the Romans.

GOTM 16 will be emperor?  Argh that'll be a big jump. :( I had numerous troubles with monarch in GOTM 15; losing all the wonders, applying chieftain tactics to the smart AI. I think that the AI knows how to fight war better than I do! The AI was doing war with huge stacks of units and systmatically taking over city after city after city...

Deity is fun because you collect the most points in Deity. Points comes real slowly in other difficulty levels
That's right. I started on Chieftan and now on Regent the points get really fast on huge heights, imo. So imagine how it is on Deity. :D

Well, with the release of GOTM 16, I've got no choice but to jump in head first into the unknown depths of an Emperor game. Depending on how I go, it might be the last .....
