I want to start by saying this is not a post meant to bash civ 5, I just want to know what minor things they took out that were in past games that you miss. For me something that is minor but just bothers me is that the leaders do not change outfits based on what era they are in ex I meet washington in anchent era he is dressed from colonial times, if monty makes it to moderen era he is still shirtless yelling in front of a fire.

End game replay screens.

Being able to buy something you're working on.

Blitzing naval units.

I agree totally with this I would have said that but I dont consider that a little thing, I used to realy like watching the replay and seeing how all the nations built up and either thrived or were taken down.

I understand that a lot of people are upset about it, but when you step back and take a look at the big picture, it's really a pretty small thing that doesn't change game play whatsoever.

Also, I just thought of something else- being able to rebase planes in any city on the globe, and being able to airlift units via late game airports. It totally changed intercontinental invasions in the late game since Civ 2. I bet they'll have it in the first expansion.

Animated advisors and the little senseless reward system. Like in the old days, you built a throne or in Rev, some civ you never heard of send you dancers or magicians or acrobats...

Artificial Intelligence. :(

"First to research gets ..." I miss the race for liberalism so much :(

Also, why don't techs unlock social policies? Not having "social" techs feel weird, even if the gameplay analogue is getting a new social policy.

I am going to greatly miss pine trees. If that sounds weird, pine trees were my main way to communicate high altitude in PerfectWorld. Their absence is going to change alot of stuff for my next version. Not sure what I can replace them with.

not seeing the soldiers marching into the city when its conquered.

not having a palace or throne room to build / decorate.

no wild animals

i'm sure there are more those are the ones i can think of right now.

I miss some form of espinonage, but i'm sure glad they minimized religion.

I dont understand espinonage being taken out they even had it in civ rev maybe they will add it with expansion packs.

I agree on spys and espionage and hope it comes back. I don't agree on religion. It was one of the things that made the game like history. Hope both come back.

I also miss the Navy Seals. Marines also.

I miss wild animals, the circumnavigation bonus, and random events.

A regenerate map button in the menu.

A clock (I know there is a mod for this, but COME ON!...that was one of the smartest things they added in 4 and they take it out?)

Map trading...Really Firaxis? I am one of those OCD people who need to see as much of the map as possible and not having this makes it just that much longer before I can see the entire world as a whole. Plus I looked around for 10 minutes in the Civilopedia til I realized that it just wasn't in the game.

Oh and speaking of which it really bothers me how alot of the information in the Civilopedia is either:
a)needlessly vague
b)not helpful at all or
c)absent.

These are all easily fixable and I'm just surprised they were not in the Vanilla version.

Amen! A simple clock with an alarm that I can use without modding and losing my achievements! Geez, is that asking too much?

A palace to create! Not essential to the game, but still fun.

Actually seeing all the buildings in a city, not just the wonders. Watching a city grow in cIV was a nice aspect of the previous game.

City health. Leave happiness as it is if you must, but bring back individual city health. Give us a real reason to go after the bonus resources again.

Airlifting units. Forcing us to embark every unit going between diffrent coastlines becomes really tedious, espically in the modern era. We do have ariplanes right? Or are they strictly just used for killing in the Civilization universe.

Adjustable tax rate. Real life governments increase taxes all the time, why can't we?

Random Events, Forests Regrowing, I do miss Religion, Wild Animals, I could go on and on about all the "little" things missing from ciV that I miss.

Ketchup. Sid five needs alot of ketchup to make it work. Like that dry ass peice of chicken your uncle gave you last weekend. Ketchup.

I've been surprised since Civ 3 that they've never had an army system that's like CTP2 (Civ 3's was a complete joke in comparison). It makes so much sense on so many levels.

a competitor will give you half their territory if you kick his ass in battle but don't expect him to give you 10 gold even if you have riflemans pointing at him when he's sticked with medieval units. the computer doesn't really tries to win at all as a matter of fact.

I've played all Civilizations since age 10 and this one, in my opinion, is the last and the least of the last two... until patches patch it or expansions expansion it.
:goodjob:

Aren't there 4 different forest graphics now?

I think you should use the different continent graphics for various temperature/moisture/drainage levels. :goodjob:
