I like Standard. Nice, easily manageably size that allows for a good number of AI.

Of course, right now I am using Small maps, as I am making the move from Monarch to Emperor difficulty, so I am just getting used to the changes.

I really like Large. Something about the balance of tech rates and room for cities with the standard build times and worker times. At the other sizes, the former seem out of balance with the latter to me.

I love tiny.

My strategy is to build a huge team of settlers at the beginning of the game and take over as much land as possible. This always works because then your opponent has a less chance to get some new resources later on. I played as American once and I conquered over 2/3 of the territory. Now I am into future tech and the best unit that my opponent can build is longbowman. Lol.

Huge with small in a close secound. Huge because its more of a challenge, and tiny because I like actually getting into the modern age.

I ussually play small. You could have a variety of civs, but will not spent too much time (on managing units, micromanage).

After the last GotM, I never even want to LOOK at a small map ever again.

Either Standard or Huge. More often Standard for the higher difficulty levels, and huge for the easier ones.

I voted large, thats what I'm playing now. Before I used mostly Huge, but my computer seems to have more problems at that size-I'm also just begining to play at emperor level-inspired by this site.

Not exactly a bell curve we got going here. Huge seems hugely popular.
I play mostly small because I'm still trying out a lot of approaches, so I quit a lot of games before finishing. Random (map size, tribes, continent layout, etc.) certainly sounds like an intriguing challenge, where you just take what it gives ya, and you don't even know what challenges will be thrown at you. I'd eventually like to settle into playing random maps.

I've never understood why so many people like the huge maps. The big maps just seem to have more waiting and more repetition, but no extra strategy. Plus they're much easier than smaller maps, the only challenge is trying to cover all the territory by 2050. Small and standard are my favorites.

ive played huge, conquered 2/3d's of the map, while my enemied were in horsemen, and i on cavalry, going into tanks. now im on the final era, and another is only out of middle ages! huge works fine for me. i seem to colonise quite easily, despite the clames that you cant colonise huge before 2050 AD!!

Standards are the best, the give just enough, but can still challenge you, plus it doesn't take 3 hours for a tuerrn to go by while you are micro managing.
