All other map types are so pre-determined. You always know what to do on such maps, and - once your map has centered - you at least to a certain degree know, where other continents will be. Not much fun for me.
What about shuffle?

I like lakes, Pangaea (for OCC), continents, terra. No particular favorite.

What are setting to good fractal map? (I have 1.61)

I want:
- as big world as possible
- as many civs as possible and realistic in fractal same time: how many?
- climate like "earth", some jungles, some ice, some desert etc.

Please, what settings i made?

When i now take fractal i always have (i take a look 5 maps):
- 3 continent
- not ice, jungles..only europeantype areas all continents.

Most of all I like playing one of the world maps or a map of Europe, Asia or America. As I can’t play these maps all the time I also play continents and terra and occasionally pangea.

I love Highlands for the geography - the mountains and lakes create complex and interesting terrain barriers. I've modded it for a whole-world environment, though - wraparound and pole-to-pole rather than regional and pole-to-equator. I also play with seas since that's one more aspect of varied geography.

Terra is also fun for the explore-the-new-world aspect (I wish the computer players understood it) and of course the variety of Fractal is great.

I've played fractal 5 times, but stopped because everytime I got a pangea, so I thought fractal was just another pangea... Might give it another go then.

Besides that, it's continents or pangea.

Huge, temperate, low sea level fractal, 18 civs.

My favourite is pangea followed closely by terra. I always edit maps before start though to make them a bit more realistic

ilove to play continents but the chances are youre not giong to advance fast and you know where the islands are

I tried team battle ground the other day and that was pretty fun, just a big land map with tiny little lakes dotted around it, good for an all out war/territory grab all game long. From the looks of the posts fractal sounds good, I always play continents or earth map or inland sea, but I am getting bored of all of them. (Continents is way to predictable).

I like Terra maps. Discovering and colonizing a new continent is so much fun.

Fractal is like a box of chocolates...You never know what your're gonna get...

Mmm...A caramel...

I really like the Fractal maps. Through this script, I've had pangeas, continents, archipelagos... I've had iceball worlds, desert worlds, and worlds with VERY interesting coastlines. I never know what I'm going to get.

what exactly is fractal supposed to generate? i've tried it a few times, and every time it gave me one large continent, and one or more small continents, with lots of water and very few islands. i haven't seen the huge variety that others have encountered.

It almost always seemed to generate for me a snakey huge continent and one or two small continents with very few,if any, islands. I can't see why it is so well liked.
