What should the pace of play be?

How fast do you want the game to progress? This might be turns/week, number of days between play sessions, or any other metric you might want to suggest. Open discussion for a while, then we'll see what we need to change in how we're doing things, if anything.

I'd say at least once every five days at minimum, with a preference of four. TC's are getting more involved, so every three days is probably pushing it.

BTW, I plan on playing on Thursday, though I was unsure how the special session would affect that.

This very thursday Methos? You want me to poll the military moves?

I agree with methos. Play a turnchat every 5 days. If we feel the game is going to slowly.. we can always play more turns during that turnchat.

One thing that is certain, is that if the most tenacious Judicial types and the most tenacious citizen input types keep up the pace in delaying turnchats for several reasons, we will not come far in general. For my own sake, I may well quit this and go solo with BTS following the end of my term, which coincides with the release of BTS. I am not to keen on legal wrangling and bickering over petty polls and principles much longer.

I think that 3 days for discussion and polling in matters that depend on the outcome of another Turnchat (like the war objectives poll currently under way) is too short - it basically reduces discussion to a few hours. Give it 4-5 days with aiming at 4 and all should be fine - more days and those natives get restless again ;)

4-5 days/turnchat sounds good to me.

Shortening the polls going from 3 to 2 days would make sense, and create more focus on the poll itself, making them run for 3 days would be too long.

That saved day could be used for fruitful discussions and sharpening the mock poll.

Yes, and we can change the constitution with 2/3 or 3/4 polls.

Since we'll be playing the special session tomorrow, I'll put off my TC until Friday instead. This way we'll have two days in between the session and TC to decide on our plans. That should be enough time, but if it isn't, I'm willing to push it back. For now, we'll say Friday.

I can't remember off-hand, but doesn't our Constitution state we must make polls no less than three days or seventy-two hours? Or am I remembering wrong?

I believe it's 2 days minimum, 3 days advised.

Then we should apply the 2 day to save time, and be more proactive and strong on the mock polls in the discussion threads.

3/5 :p

The constitution does not say anything about polling (apart from how to poll a constitutional ammendment). We effectively do not have any rules on polls - this is all in the air and until now up to the Judiciary. You *could* post a poll that runs for 1 day and it would be a binding initiative unless invalidated by the Judiciary - I would not encourage such polls though, since they have a strong air of unfairness...

I think 2 days is a fine length to though, otherwise people prefer discussions in the polls, and not in the discussion threads. All the action should take place in the discussions, not to focus on tweaking people polling.

I'm fairly sure we have an initiative about this that has been approved

Okay, thanks for figuring that out

Another reason to get the Polling Act ratified ASAP.

I think 2 days should be the norm, to manage to get discussions, mock poll, polls and instructions done well within 5 days between turnchats.
